We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Ryan A. Miller US Marine Lance Corporal.

So today is the day after we finally got Osoma. Its been a long time since i got the bad news. I still remember the sting when the word hit my ear. For a long time i dwelled on weather there could be any possible purpose to your death and nerver really could think of anything. As i get older and think about my life and the decisions I have made since your death. I realize that your death while aweful, has caused me to consider weather the choices i make honor you and your memory and I am sure I am not the only. That gives me some peace.

Ryan, this is travis morris mom and the guys have not forgot u at all, travis still wears the band your mom gave them, they talk about u often and miss u. some of the men has gotten out of the usmc and some has relistened travis has relisten and is station is nc he does the bomb dogs now and he is getting married in january and going back to war in febuary i hope this isn;t too much to ask but will u watch out over my baby ryan, now that u a angel. they miss you so much and i know your mom and dad and family do. thanks ryan for giving your life for our county but as a mom i just wish you didn;t hadn;t died to do it, you and your parents will always be my hero i love you ryan and thanks again,

I will never forget the day my bestfriend called me and told me the news, I rushed out to get a paper hopeing that it was a mistake. But it wasn't, in my mind all the years we had been in school together and shared classes flew by as I desperately try to grab them and hold on to those moments. Shareing a class since kindergarten is a long time spent in the human life which is so short in the grand scheme of things. I send my best wishes to his family, especiall his parents. "No parent should have to bury their child"- King Theoden (Lord of the rings the two towers). I didnt know this page was here till i was looking for my grandfathers obituary, he passed last night. It is hard to lose some one in that you love but know that they love you in return and that you can only be strong until the day you meet again.

I miss you every day. When I close my eyes I see you, its hard to sleep. I used to say we missed our war, when I tell hero stories of your dad and Paw-Paw. I was wrong. We found our war. I keep your rank in my left breast pocket, so when it hurts under my armor I know why. I'm sorry I wasn't there. It should have been me and not you.

I did not know Ryan personally. I awkwardly attended his wake to comfort a friend. I declined to attend his funeral, as my lack of personal connection with such an honorable man left me feeling as if I did not deserve to be there. However, I often think about his family, and all of the kind people that I met in his passing. I want to thank Lance Cpl. Ryan A. Miller and all of those who choose give up years of their life, those precious years of their youth, to serve others. They know full well the consequences that such a sacrifice may entail, but they still choose to make it. This is the gift that they chose to give to their country and its people. Most of us freely choose to do whatever we would like during these years. That freedom, which is so often take for granted by all of us, is secured by a man who exercises that very right and freely chooses to protect us from losing it. As a member of this great nation, I just want to thank all of them for giving up some of their life to protect us, especially those who gave all, like Ryan.

I only found out recently of Ryan's passing and my deepest sympathy goes out to his family and to anyone who knew Ryan. I was in middle school all the way up to my junior year in High school with Ryan and he was the most respectable gentleman anyone would meet. Dear Miller Family. There isnt a day that goes by that i dont think about Ryan and the last morning that I saw him. We were getting ready to go out on our final patrol and Ryan, Jonh Hanson, and I were singing "Used to be a Cowboy." Its been seven months now and i still remember that night Like it happened two minutes ago. A lot of guys in the platoon and company have gotten tatooes to honor him. I'm not much for needles but My wife and we do intend On naming our first born child, due in October, after him. Ryan was a Great Marine, a true friend, and a awesome little brother to us all. Dear Miller family,
I have just recently learned of your son Ryan’s death. Upon hearing the news I immediately started sobbing. It is hard enough hearing about the death of a fellow Marine, or any other service member, but it is even harder when you have known them. I went through recruit training with Ryan at Parris Island. He was the type that made bootcamp a little more bearable. I can remember many nights after lights out and the Drill Instructors had left Miller, Grant, Norris, and myself sitting up in our racks joking around and talking about the numerous events that had happened to us throughout training. Among the many things that we shared with each other I do specifically remember that Ryan was extremely proud of carrying on the family tradition of being a Marine. He could not wait to get home and share his experiences with his father, it made their bond even that much more special. I regret not keeping more in touch with the Marines that I went through training with, but they have been and will always be in my heart and in my prayers. Knowing firsthand Ryan’s loyalty and dedication, it is without a doubt that he has been hand selected by God above to stand guard at the gates of Heaven. “If the Army and the Navy ever gaze on Heaven’s scenes, they will find the gates are guarded by United States Marines.” Semper Fidelis.

Spears was killed Oct. 23, 2005 in Ramadi, Iraq. Hearing all the wonderful things Cpl. Pittman had to say about Ryan and hearing just how much he and J.R. were alike, makes me feel your pain even more. Ryan and J.R. were both so proud to be Marines and to fight for our freedom. I never knew your beautiful son Ryan, but I do remember another young Marine many years ago named "Tuffy" who Ryan very much resembles. The young man was my late cousin Mike's best friend for many years and served his country proudly in Vietnam. Ryan, I am sure, made that man and his mother very proud. I know Frank and Ruth would have been very proud to know their grandson gave his life for his country and The Corps.

Words can't describe how sorry I am about your loss. Ryan's passing was a shock to many of us. I was at the funeral today and I saw the support of all in attendance and it was something I will never forget. I can honestly tell you I am proud to have known Ryan. His death affected many people and it is not all for lost. He will live on in the minds and hearts of countless numbers of people. I am extremely sorry for your loss and I wish you all the best. Dear Frank, Jeannine and family,
All of you have been in my thoughts and prayers everyday and I pray for strength and peace for you. I know Ryan is with the Lord and is at peace. He is a soldier to whom we are so very proud of. It's obvious he loved his family and his country. My son Daren Cantu played baseball with Ryan and attended Pearland High School. Daren is in the United States Air Force and the day he told me he was enlisting my heart dropped. But to this day I am very proud of him and the young man he has become as I know you are very proud of Ryan. I am also very proud of Ryan and will always, always remember his sacrifice, and will keep him in my heart and prayers. Our boys are very special, especially those who serve our country. Thank you both for your dedication with the HPD through the years. Ryan was very proud of his parents and now is your Guardian Angel. when i heard the news i was utterly shocked..I had no ideas what to think because it seems like just yesterday he was bugging us at the girl scout meetings. But as we are all aware that he is in a much better place now..i just wanted to say thanks to him for serving(unselfishly) and protecting the freedom of others..ALL of you are in my prayers, God bless.

I was sad to hear of your recent loss of Lcpl Miller, a young individual with so much potential. You have lost a son and i have lost a fellow brother.....I myself am a Marine. Though I can not begin to understand the pain you must be going through, I do hope you find some comfort in knowing so many prayers are going up in your behalf.
My nephew, a Marine, left two weeks ago for Iraq, and though we are proud of him, we are aware of the daily danger he will be facing.
Ryan is now one of God's soldiers in heaven. One day you will be reunited with him, but until then may each of you find peace and comfort in remembering him for the joy he surely provided you during his short time on earth.

You were so special to your mom and dad. They were so proud of you. Sadly, your loss has also been felt by the police community nationwide. Your sacrifice has been told and retold to so many present and past officers who worked with or knew your parents at HPD. Simply stated, your parents were role models for police officers--they were so giving of themselves and clearly so were you. There is no doubt that you had these same qualities. I want to say thank you for Ryan's service. Playing baseball with Ryan left me with many great childhood memories. It takes great strength to go and serve in this great country's military. It took great will to go into the Marines, not everyone could do it. Ryan was strong and brave, and because of people like that is why this country is so great. I will keep Ryan in my thoughts and prayers throughout my military service and though at this time sadness is felt, we all should feel proud for Ryan and his accomplishments. As I was once told, "nothing is lost if you know where it is."

Last evening I was getting ready to do the rosary of a parishoner from my parish and noticed all the Police officers and Military. I asked an officer who died, and they of course told me it was your son Ryan. I went into the visitation room and did meet very briefly with you Mr. Miller. Again, I thank you for your son Ryan's service and sacrifice for our country. Burying a child is not the commonalities of life as I well know with the death of my son in 1987.
Know, that you all will remain in my prayers.
