Mr. David Charles Miller, age 86, of
Oblong, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 3:43 a.m. David was born on July 20, 1939, in
Phoenix, Arizona, to Joseph (Jo Boy) Miller and Maymie (Flynn) Miller. He attended Bend Grade School and later attended Oblong High School.
On May 29, 1964, David married the love of his life, Carol Ann Francis, in
Oblong, Illinois. Together they built a life centered on hard work, family, and simple joys. Their marriage of more than six decades was a testament to devotion, partnership, and enduring love.
David was a gifted autobody specialist. He worked for the former H.L. Musgrave Motors and Parkland Motors, both in Robinson, Illinois, before proudly opening his own business, Dave's Body Shop in Oblong. For 25–30 years, he served the community with skill, integrity, and craftsmanship, earning the respect of customers and friends alike.
He had a curious mind and a craftsman's hands. David enjoyed antiquing and collecting treasures of all kinds. He loved tinkering with almost anything, creating beautiful stained-glass pieces, metal detecting, coin collecting, and old cars. He took pride in mowing, doing things on his tractor and spending time outdoors. He always took pleasure in caring for all the family pets and animals that would show up.
He found happiness in visiting with family and friends at the old home place in the river bend area and took his daughter and grandson there often.
More than any hobby, David treasured his family. He cherished his daughter, grandson and great-granddaughter, and nothing brought him more joy than time spent with them. Be it dirt bikes, fishing, or demo cars, he helped with any of his grandson's projects.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Ann Miller of
Oblong, Illinois; one daughter, Dawn Jacobs and Mark Wysocki of Benson, Arizona; one grandson, Alec Jacobs and Meaghan Shook of
Oblong, Illinois; one great-granddaughter, Octavia Jacobs of
Oblong, Illinois; one sister, Catherine McCleave of
