John Leroy Leffler

John Leroy Leffler, 87, of Willow Hill, IL, passed away at 12:50 am on Wednesday, January 01, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.
He was born in Jasper County, IL, on June 14, 1938, to Clarence Ishmael "Spoony" and Mary (Daugherty) Leffler. He married his true love, Elsie Yager, on September 21, 1957. She preceded him in death.
He worked at the Ettlebrick Shoe Company in Robinson, Newton, & Casey, Illinois, working in production and maintenance. He then worked in maintenance at SEI in Newton, Illinois. Before ending his career as an electrician at the Ameren Power Plant in Newton, Illinois, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the Mound Community Church and the Oblong High School Class of 1956. He enjoyed listening to old time country and hillbilly music, visiting friends, and time spent with his family.
He is survived by three sons and daughter-in-law; Kevin and Sara (Sholders) Leffler of Newton, IL; Brian and Chrissy (Sanger) Leffler of Willow Hill, IL; and Brent and Angie (Phillips) Leffler of Mt. Carmel, IL; grandchildren, Zack and Leah Leffler, Lucas and Kristen Leffler, Johnny and Callie Leffler, Jackson Leffler, Kelsie Leffler, Eric Leffler, and Tiffany Leffler; great grandchildren, Maren, Nora, Robin, Race, Cruise, Izabella, Penelope, and Hudson.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Elsie Leffler, infant son, Phillip, two brothers, Clarence and Sam Leffler, and infant brother.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, Illinois, with Brother Bill Ikemire officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Willow Hill, Illinois.
An additional evening visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong.
Honorariums may be made to the Mound Cemetery Fund, with envelopes provided by Pulliam Funeral Home.
