Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of David Joseph Davis US Army Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Five years ago today, two officers, dressed in their Class A uniform, came to our home to "gently" break the news to me and the kids that you were gone.... Joe, I miss you everyday, and have never forgotten our love for one another. You are and will always be my everything.... Living without you is so hard to bear. You will always have my love; my heart and soul. A huge part of me is gone and lost without you... You made my heart, and my soul complete... I know that you're waiting for me in heaven, and when my work on earth is through, we will be together again.. I love you, Baby, and I miss you so much that it's tearimg me apart... Rest in peace my Angel... I still be here loving you, until we meet again...
You loving, heartbroken wife,
Bobbie

As we carry on with our lives, we see your influence around us, guiding the hands of fate in our favor. Thanks Joe for even in heaven you still continue to brighten and shape our lives.
Josephine smiles at nothing, giggles when no ones around and talks up a storm in her crib, so apparently she gets to see Uncle Joe a lot.

by Peter D. Blair
If I died tomorrow would you ask god why,
Would you sit down on the ground and cry.
If I died tomorrow would you carry on,
Would you think of me and hum your favorite song.
Life is fleeting, and it goes by oh so fast,
My time with you how I wish it could last.
If I was gone tomorrow, think of me once in awhile,
Shed a tear, and then please smile.
I went to heaven far too soon it’s true,
But I’m leaning on a fence post there, waiting, and thinking of you.

Although I do not know you, I thank you sir, for your service. May God keep you in his loving arms as you walk through the streets of heaven.

Today marks 4 years that you were taking from us. When I woke up this morning the sun was shinning bright in the window and I knew right away you were smiling and telling me good morning, as I sit a look at your picture I start to cry, I really wish I could have had one more day with you, so I could just hug you, cause your hugs always made me feel safe. I wish Heaven had a phone so that I could hear your voice again, I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought of you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame.~Four years later and it feels like I've just lost you. 10 o'clock last night, four years ago was the lst time I got to tell you how much I love you, and hear you tell me that you love me too. There are so many days that seem so unbearable without you. Life just is not the same without you here with me. The kids and I love you so much. There are days that we sit and just talk about you and remember. I love you with all of my heart and soul.

Your Loving, Devoted, Faithful, Wife,

Here as we mark the 4 year here with out you, the hurt does n't fad away, it still hurt as dad as the day mom called me, that was the worse night ever. This year is bad because I can't come home to talk to you, but everytime I look at Josh I am so glad you got to spend time with him, and for Gabe you never got to meet him but the night you died I smelled the desert in his room so you did come to say goodby and I saw your face as plan as day like you were right there and I could touch you, My sweet baby girl Joey I know in my heart you were there to help bring here home to me it took 3 months but you made sure she was heathly when she came home, that was the worse seeing you baby in the hospitals with all the tubes and the good days and bad, but she is wonderful and when she laughs I see you face and the looks you did that she does when she looks at her brothers. I just wanted to tell you I miss your face everyday and I know you are watching over us all. there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you. You are the best big brother ever, I Love you Joe.

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 3,370 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 247 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not meant to be, So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to Me".With tearful eyes we watched you, as we saw you pass away. Although we loved you deeply, we could not make you stay. Your Golden Heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

I love today, I'll love you tomorrow, my heart will always be yours and I'll love you for ALWAYS!!!

My brother Stephen Millie, was in his squad and thinks about him regularly. We all do. My brother came home last September to get married. I got to fly up to Alaska for the first time. David Joe was honored in my brothers wedding with his own reserved chair and a beer sitting atop it. I just wanted everyone to know that this soldier will be dearly missed and will remain in my families hearts and to send my deepest and most sincere sympathies to the family of this great hero.

In Memory of David ~ (Debra Estep)

September 17, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know David, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

From Josie's cousins - Anne, Linda and Sharon Weiss (daughters of Bob Weiss, Grandaughters of Gladys Cook Weiss) and our aunt, Bernadette (Weiss)and her husband Tom Hayes - our very deepest condolence to all of you with this untimely loss. Our brother passed at this same age and though he never grows older, he is very much next to our thoughts - especially when we three girls are together. It takes time, but the memories become so wonderful. May Joey truly rest in peace. God Bless him for his selfless gift of duty.

My Deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Sgt. David J. Davis.

The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and our freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

There is so much thanks to be given, for these young heroes, for their Courage, Service and Dedication.

May he rest safely in God's Mighty Hands and may God's Loving Comfort and Grace be with the Davis family.

I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

"I will lift up my eyes to the hills-

from whence comes my help?

My help comes from the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth."

Psalm 121:1-2

With each new day, may the Lord restore your soul and, through His love, give you the strength to go on.

Softly and slowly...

Time heals...
