Happy 43rd birthday Dad! It is absolutely crazy how much time as gone by without you here. We're working on our 10th year on you being gone. I'm almost 20 years old, and the boys are coming up right behind me. Nick will be 17 this year! Brett will be 11. There are so many people besides us that miss you everyday. It's so heart warming to read all the kind words people are still saying about you. I'm so glad that you are truly not forgotten. I love you so much. Please continue to watch over the boys and Stacey, she's still doing this all by herself! Miss you more than words can describe. Can't wait to see you again

I just wanted to say I was with Rosie that day 7 years ago. I haven't had to opportunity to ever tell his family what Rosie meant to me. Rosie was the kindest, most gentle, compassionate man I have ever known. I have thought about him every single day for 7 years. I miss him so very much. I hope that one day I can meet everyone who loves him to tell them how proud they should be of the man that they raised. My eternal gratitude is yours. I will forever be in your debt. I miss you man. -Sgt Jonathan Wood, 3rd Platoon, Delta Company, 2nd LAR Battalion, 2DMARDIV

Well.... I don't know what to say. I can't believe I am still writing in your book. I just can't pull myself to let you go. I think about you every day, and time I see a picture of people who, just like you, risked their live to save us. I miss you so much. Most of the time I hide the pain inside. I guess you could say that I put all my fears inside a box. I'm afraid to let them out. I don't know how I would react. I can't believe its been so long since I saw you. I love you and will never forget what you did for this country.

Now my kids and I live in Huntsville and I met this amazing young lady. This lil lady is an awesome, outstanding, outgoing, wonderful, strong young woman and friends with my son. Come to find out my wonderful lil girl that I love so so much is Cheyane, Mark's daughter. Mark, you would be so proud of her if you were here. She is so much like you, additude and all, lol. The best blessing came when I moved to Huntsville and found out she is not only my favorite cheerleader but now my neighbor. We all love and miss you Mark. Thanks for loving all of us enough to pay the ultimate price. I promise you we will return your love and always be here for your family.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Mark, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Sir, I apologize it's taken me so long to send these regards. It was a pleasure serving with you in Iraq. Delta was the best Company in LAR, if not the entire 2nd MARDIV at the time. It was due to the solid leadership we had, from the BN CO, all the way down to our Plt Commanders. I learned a lot from you sir. I think about you everyday, as well as Garvin and Rosales. I just tell myself that the Hymn is what it's like, and God needed a motivated OIC for the Gate Guards. I look forward to meeting you again someday sir. Tell Eddie and Ben I said hi, and tell Eddie I said I'm sorry. He'll know what I'm talking about. Thank you sir.

To the family, my heart is always with you as well. I know Lt.'s brother was at the Memorial, but it was hard to speak to him, and I apologize for that. I still pray for you, and if there is anything I can do please let me know. All my regards.

Mark,
First off I want to say I'm sorry for taking so long. I'm not real good at stuff like this especially when it is a good friend. We go back to 7th grade as do most of my friends from Moberly. Football, wrestling, all the road trips in the Cougar, the blood, the sweat, the aches and pains from practice. You wrecked my mom's car, she found out it was you and said "It's ok." I wrecked it three weeks later and I'm still paying for it! Nobody can take those memories from me that we shared and I dare somebody to try OOH RAH! I joined the Corps out of high school and lost contact, I had heard you joined and I was not surprised, I was proud to be in the same organization. I know you're fellow Devil Dogs not only admired you but respected you. Not by me knowing them but by me knowing you. So in closing to you, I will miss you. I'll follow you anywhere Maggot!

To the family.
You were my second family there for awhile and I never had a bad time, I could hear you're cheers all the way down to the wrestling mat telling me to get off my back.
Teresa aka Mom, you gave me my first buzz cut and I loved it... maybe a little too much I still sport it to this day. I hope that some day you will find peace in all this Lord knows you deserve it raising those boys.
Stacey, although I do not know you I do not have to tell you what kind of man you're husband was, I will tell you he was an awesome friend to have.

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear truth and alliegiance to the same that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

August 6, 2007

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

“Paid in Full”
In Honor of The War Against Terrorism’s Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our minds we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the few, the proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

To the family of Mark Gelina: I was a close friend to Mark throughout high school. We played football and wrestled together and Mark was always a devoted friend and teammate. He made me laugh more than anyone else and his loyalty to his friends was unwavering. I was lucky and fortunate to have known Mark, and I am so deeply sorry for his loss. He will forever be remembered in my heart and in my memories.

Dear Gelina Family,
Even though we have never met I feel as if we are a part of a "family". My daughter's fiancee was killed by an IED in Iraq on Oct. 3, 2005. It is my prayer that you will feel God holding close to His heart as He has held my family this past year. May you know His peace and comfort as you face the difficult days ahead.

To Mark's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.
Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!
Our sincerest gratitude for their bravery-
