My Wonderful Son - I Miss and Love You So Very Very Much....... Everyday I Set On The Patio, Where You And I Spent So Many Hours Talking, Laughing, Craying, Hugging Each Other And Reasurring Each Other That Everthing Is Going To Be Fine Because We Will Always Be Together, We Will Always Have Each Other To Talk With And Have Each Others Backs... I Read The Cards You Gave Me, And Cry Wanting To Hold You Again. I Remember Your Beautiful Face And Your Mesmerizing Smile, That Wonderful Smile, The Pride You Held Yourself With. You Always Said I Was Your Angel From God And You Could Never Live Without Me, And All Your Good Inside You Came From Me, Well Son Its The Other Way Around, You Are My Angel, And You Are The Reason That I Have Good Inside Me!!!!!!!!! Coty,
Hey there big brother. I just wanted to do something that im not sure i ever did before. That is to thank you for always looking out for me. You have always been my hero, the one I wanted to be just like, the one who would never let me down. Now that your gone I feel so lost. Its been almost four years and the pain hurts as if it were just yesterday. I dont know how to move on. My since of spirit and happiness seemed to have died with you. The only thing I live for now is the ones I love and your memory. I love you more than anything and always will. Think about you all the time. I know your still looking out for me so i will try not to let you down.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Coty and I were... are... cousins and had been best friends for a long time, having found all the ups and downs of life together being as I am only 2 weeks older than him, and having lived either next to each other or under the same roof most of our childhood. One thing that I must say about Coty is that i could not be any prouder of him though it sometimes seems this overwhelming sorrow is never going to end. I would like to thank everyone that has or will sign this book and all of the people who took the time to come out on the cold days of his wake and funeral to support the family, it really touched all of our hearts. On a more personal level I would like to share with everyone the words I received in the first few nights after Coty's death. You see try as I might I could not sleep, every time I closed my eyes a million memories and thoughts flooded my head, I couldn't find and relief until I sat down one morning with a pen and allowed some of it to come out. I call it quite simply
" Message From Coty"

Don't cry for me I did not die,
my spirit is soaring beyond the sky.

Do not be sad and do not mourn,
for my true identity's been reborn.

I have Grandpa and Nanna here by my side,
and they want you to know that they have not died.

I know that your hurting but I know that your proud.
Because I stood out, above all the crowd.

I feel no pain, but I do feel your pride,
and it fills me up with joy inside.

My spirit is whole and my treasures are vast,
I'm finally in Heaven, with Jesus at last.

I want you to know, though my distance is far,
my love will be with you, where ever you are.

Coty

"My flag has been flown, I'm finally free.
To be the true soldier I've wanted to be."

For all that have read this, I want you to know I do not attribute any part of this poem to my own hand except the placement of the pen to the paper. I used no thought when writing it and was actually entirely shocked to see what was written once I had finished. It to me is clearly the words that Coty wanted for his family and friends to know to help us through our time of despair. I will always love you Theodore Mitchell West. Thank you for everything.

AS MANY YOUNG AMERICANS THINK THEY HAVE TO HAVE A CELL PHONE, A CAR, A FUN JOB, AND THE LATEST MUSIC TO GET ALONG, PFC. WEST WAS HAPPY TO CRAWL IN THE MUD AND EAT MRE'S. MY SON-IN-LAW WAS KILLED IN IRAQ ON JANUARY 22 2007. AT HIS MEMORIAL SERVICES I HAVE MET YOUNG SOLDIERS WHO HAVE ALL IMPRESSED ME. I HAD NEVER MET LARGER THAN LIFE HEROES BEFORE THIS. I KNOW THAT YOUR COTY WAS LIKE OUR NICK, ALWAYS READY TO DO THE JOB THEY HAD VOLUNTEERED FOR. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE PRAYING FOR US TO GET THROUGH THESE HARD TIMES. NICK'S FAVORITE VERSE WAS JOSHUA 1:9 AND IT HAS HELPED US QUITE A BIT. GOD GAVE HIS SON SO THAT WE MIGHT SEE OURS AGAIN. I ALSO THANK COTY'S FAMILY FOR SUPPORTING SUCH A GREAT AMERICAN HERO. THANK YOU,

I PRAY THAT PEACE WILL FIND YOU ALL SOMEDAY. GODSPEED AND SEMPER FI.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

my son is now serving in iraq and knows ben through the charlie co. i could only imagine how you feel and hope and pray that i never have to go through the same. my son also talked all his life of military. he wanted to serve his country because he believed in the usa and freedom. when i asked him why he was going to iraq and wasn't he afraid he told me that he wanted to make the world safer for the ones he loved and that if he had to give his life than there was no better way to go than to go protecting the country you loved and fighting for what you believed in . it seems from what i have heard that coty had the same feelings and although it is hard to let go, may you find a since of pride in him. Not many have the guts or courage to do what he done. my heart breaks for you. may god keep you all in his hands during this rough time.

I remember Coty from ECHS. I am a cook at the high school and really enjoyed Coty coming through the line and saying something silly and smiling. I think he smiled all the time. I am very proud of Coty and all the things he did for his country. May God Bless each and everyone of you.

My husband, Monte, and I both remember Coty from Estill County High School. I suspect that he was much more active in science than English. One time he laughed and told me he really knew how to "get Mr. Farmer going." He was always smiling and loved talking to his friends in class. It just doesn't seem fair that such a positive person should die young. Please accept the best wishes of our family. Dennis is just about Coty's age. We are praying for you all.

So sorry for your loss. Thank you for Coty's sacrifice for our country and our freedom. May God sustain you, and hold you in the palm of his hands as you prepare to say goodbye. Cling to the promise made in Phil. chapter 4 verse 13 that tells us we can do all things through Christ who strenghtens us.
