Edith G. West, 87, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Parkcliffe of Northwood. She was born in Maryville, Tennessee on April 10, 1938 to William Ambrose and Hettie Mae (Sellars) Tipton. Edith graduated from Everett High School and would shortly after marry the love of her life, Charles A. West on December 18, 1957. Edith was the daughter of a Baptist preacher which led her to being active in church. When Edith and her husband moved north to the Toledo area they became members of Second Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and later as treasurer of Cass Road Baptist Church.
She was most comfortable at home where her and Charles maintained a respectable garden and canned their own vegetables and fruits for many years. Edith loved and cherished her family along with her dog, Winston, who would stay by her side constantly.
Professionally, Edith retired from Mellocraft as Executive Secretary. She was proud of her role and the contributions she made there.
Edith is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles; sons, Scott (Angie) West, Dennis West; grandchildren, Casey (Stefan) Borden, Scott P. West, Amanda (Bo), Cody (Genesis) West, Callum West; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Gooch; many nieces and nephews; and beloved dog Winston. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 9 of her 10 siblings.
In accordance with Edith's wishes graveside services will remain private.
