I so glad I found this for Jamie, didn't know it exist until now. I could write a ton of things about this man, but I'll keep it short. Jamie was a great friend with a big heart! He gave freely of time and friendship always. Our times spent at Bragg and Ft. Rich will always be memorable. It's still hard to come to the conclusion that he's gone, but he will never be forgotten! Gone way to soon my brother...RIP!

I just heard of SSG Wilson's passing, and would like to extend my condolences to his family. I served with SSG Wilson at Ft. Bragg, Nc within the 4th Psyop Group. I still remember how embarrassed he was after he backed into my car in his drive way. SSG Wilson was a good soldier and person. RIP Jamie Wilson. Airborne!

My favorite memory is that of a 13 year old Jamie at dinner with the family. Jamie’s mom was engrossed in conversation when his 2 ½ year old little sister had to go potty, so Jamie offered to take her. (Awww) As a man he hated that this was how I thought of him, but even as the intimidating force he became, he was a sweet sweet soul.

25 years of memories; there is so much to say and I am devastated that I cannot say it to him. SSG Wilson was an outstanding soldier to the world, and as such should be remembered, honored, and respected. But to me he was Jamie Wilson, and as such he will be forever remembered, missed, and loved.

August 19, 2009

Dear Staff Sgt. Wilson.
Although I never got to meet you personally I want to thank you for everything you have done for us. I know your sister and she misses you deeply. It's men like you that make us live today.
THANK YOU

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jamie, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I just found out yesterday that JW was killed. It has been over 10 years since I have last seen JW. We served together in III Corps LRSC. But of all the soldiers in that unit I remember him the best. I remember him being mostly quiet until we got him fired up. How we laughed about our expiences at the Survival school or Benning for the LRS Leaders course. I hate that we have lost this guy. His character has made an impression on me that has stayed with me these past 12 years. RIP JW

IN REMEMBRANCE OF JAMIE

"The beginning of the end of war lies in remembrance.” Herman Wouk

To Jamies’s Family

Epiphany is the liturgical season of light shining out into the darkness of the world. On Sunday, candles were lit in the War Memorial Chapel of the Washington National Cathedral for you, Jamie, the fallen, the recovering wounded, and the serving paratroopers of the Spartan Brigade. The War Memorial Chapel is designed around the theme of humanity’s perpetual battle for freedom and sacrifice and is a somber monument to all those who have lost their lives in the service of our country. It honors the men and women who have dedicated their lives for their country’s defense. We will never forget the sacrifices of so many soldiers and their families.

In remembrance of Jamie Wilson, Jeffrey Bisson, Dustin Donica, Sean Fennerty, Micah Gifford, Henry Linck, Phillip McNeill, and Toby Olsen, all KIA during Operation Iraqi Freedom, floating candle-lit white lilies were placed in quiet water to provide a “spiritual” illumination. Brian White, who survived the horrific IED explosion a year ago January 20th, in which Jeffrey, Phillip, Sean, and Toby perished, was in our home this past weekend on leave from Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He along with Peter Shoemaker’s brother John and dad Cliff, floated the candles remembering all of those brave Geronimos of Able Company, Army 3/509th Airborne.

To convey a calming spirit of harmony and beauty, Paul and Heidi Shoemaker folded white and silver Japanese origami cranes to commemorate this day. These creations are a testament to the continued power of the paper crane as “a compelling symbol for hope, love, and honor.” The elegant cranes call out to us reminding us to pray without ceasing for world peace.

Jamie's grave at Arlington National Cemetery will be visited today as we remember this dedicated soldier who loved those he served with and the nation he paid the ultimate sacrifice for.

Surrounding you in love,
SPC Peter Shoemaker,
Cliff, Gretchen, John & Kim, Paul and Heidi Shoemaker

Gold Star Mother,

October 29, 2007

James was my friend and confidant for 18 years of my life. It is hard to let go of someone who has impacted my thoughts and feelings for so long. I do not think my life from now on will be the same without him. He was the bravest of us all. Even in High School he stood up for his friends. He was like a brother to Dennis and Will and he was always the better part of me. I could not go where he has gone nor given what he has sacrificed. He was my hero.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

We would like to honor Sgt. Wilson for his service to the country he loved so much. He was truly a professional who inspired the men around him. Please accept our prayers and sympathies in this very hard time. We too have lost a soldier, Spec. Nicholas Brown was KIA on January 22, 2007 in Mosul, Iraq. He was in 2/7 Cav of 1st Cavalry Division. He transferred to the infantry and loved learning from the professionals around him. He left behind a young wife and newborn son. This is the only country in the world where the "Can Do" spirit lives on from 1776 until now. Jamie will always be a Great American Hero and will never be forgotten. Thank you,

March 1, 2007

When our son, Spc. Peter Shoemaker, presently serving in Iraq with the Army's 3/509th, returned home on leave, he wanted to go directly from the airport to Arlington National Cemetery to visit the grave of his friend and staff sergeant, Henry Linck. As Peter walked back to the car with his dad, passing the newest graves, he noticed the familiar name of Staff Sergeant Jamie Wilson, who had been interred a short hour before their arrival to Section 60. It was such a profound honor for Peter to pay tribute to these two dedicated fallen heroes who offered the supreme sacrifice for freedom. Our family lives in Virginia and frequently visits these two graves that are in the same row, brothers in arms, now so close to each other forever. With love and grateful hearts, we will continue to pay tribute by placing fresh cut flowers and greens on the graves of Henry and Jamie, remembering their lives of service to our country. We will be there for all the holidays, their birthdays, and in between. To the families and friends of these two honorable men, may you know God's abiding peace.

February 15, 2007

Staff Sgt. Jamie D. Wilson would say don't cry at my grave and weep, this life is my choice; I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more, my life is my God, My Country." Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there; I did not die. I am over protecting my soldiers that still in Iraq. I will be there till my mission is finish and they are all home safe with their families and love ones. I believe this my responsibility and I am man of my word.

He will always be in my thoughts we had a lot good & bad times.

Jamie Wilson was my only Best Friend and my Hero.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I was assigned to C CO 3rd Psyop BN from 2003-2004. I knew SSG Wilson there when I was a private. My heart stopped when I saw his picture in the Army times. I began to reflect the memories I had of him and wanted to learn of his death. I know he was a good NCO that wanted to do more than what could be asked of him. He was an excellent marksman and when I learned that he was going to reclassify to infantry I thought it was an excellent move for him and that he would do great and fit in very well. I send my condolences to his family, I will not forget him and he will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

I was assigned to C Company, 3rd PSYOP Battalion, 4th PSYOP Group at Ft Bragg, NC with SSG Jamie Wilson. He, for a time, was my Section Sergeant and we also worked for a period together at the post club, Sports USA. Jamie demanded the best from himself and from other people. He was a solid professional and a hard charger. He was always quick with a joke that for the right or wrong reason brought a smile to my face. Thank you, my brother in arms. Rest easy, Airborne, you're home now. With deepest respect, SSG Owens

Heaven's Call

Heaven called and you were taken
So young to go, to young to know

The call of heaven did not wait
Your time here a short stay
You were called away
To be part of God’s everlasting garden

Borrowed seed from the Master
A small little bud that graced us with your beauty
Now returned upon heaven’s call

A finely chosen rose
Taken before it bloomed
Before your beauty had time to unfold

He is the Gardner and you his prize winning bud
Perhaps He seen a storm that you could not with stand
So he picked you before the wind would fall

The memories forever etched in our hearts
Our little bud now blooms
With the angels up on high
