We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Pfister Family know that we recently made a small donation to the Seven Stars Foundation to honor Travis D. "I haven't seen Travis since he was only a little boy. Our families were friends and I used to babysit Travis and his brother Josh. I remember on one occasion while babysitting, Travis wanted to play his favorite game of (War). Travis was always wearing his army shirt with his pretend gun strapped to his side. We would pile up all of the couch cushions and then use them as pretend bunkers. Travis and Josh and their cousins would then launch items across the room and yell "incoming" and then dive for cover. Travis was a little jokester and as we played I suddenly heard a loud thud next to me. When I looked down I was shocked to see a real grenade! As I panicked, I began yelling, "Travis, what have you done?" By now Travis was rolling on the floor hysterically laughing. "It's been drilled out, it doesn't work anymore!" Travis said with his Kool-Aid smile and one missing sock. I began to chase after him to tickle him, but he got away and ran outside. He must have planned this because as soon as I reached the door I was met with water balloons! The little blonde boy with curly hair had a love for life that not many people ever know. I guess that little boy grew up and became a man (a very handsome one!) and he continued to love life and do the things that made him happy. When Travis was little he talked about his hero's and how mighty they were. "Well Travis you have now become that mighty hero to all of us and we are all so proud of you."

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of UNITED STATES MARINES.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze,
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far off northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job --
The UNITED STATES MARINES.

Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By UNITED STATES MARINES.

Sir Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister, became an ardent admirer of the U.S. Marine Corps. In the company of guests of state, he often demonstrated his respect for U.S. Marines by reciting, from memory, all three verses of The Marines' Hymn. I now know what this means. Pride and admoration.

Lori & Loren, It was a pleasure meeting you and talking with you at the Time of Remembrance in Richland. Your son sounded like great person who was loved by many. I could tell how proud you were of him. Although we did not know him, we too are proud. He is a True American Hero just as our son SGT Justin Norton. Our boys gave the ultimate sacrifice and will never be forgotten.

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I finally have the strength to read all of these beautiful entries. Trav was a very fun kid, with a boyish giggle and a big heart, who loved his skateboard, 4-wheeler, BB gun, the cabin, and playing at the farm house. I remember when he was 7 years old, and I was jogging while he was skateboarding (by his favorite store-Sgt. Bubs) and he ran out into Lee Blv. to get his skateboard. I told him, "next time, let it go. I can replace the skateboard, but not you". And there truly is noone like him, to replace him. We will sure miss you Trav-you little jokster and brave Marine-our son Hero. We are most proud of you, and commend all the soldiers that make sacrifices to keep us free and safe.

Jessica I'm so sorry for the loss of Travis. I wish Brandon and I were still living in 29 Palms. If there is anything, anything at all, that we can do for you...please know that you can ALWAYS call us. We miss you and we love you and you and Travis (and your families) are in our thoughts and prayers! I found this poem and wanted to share it...

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room.

Nothing has happened, the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged…call me by my old familiar name.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

I am waiting but for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner.

All is well, all is well...

I went to school with Travis from elementary school through high school and was deeply saddened to hear of his fate while serving his country. Travis was as tough as they come and the incredible stories of his accomplishments, fearlessness, dedication and courageousness as a Marine come as no surprise to me. He is the embodiment of a hero and lived every minute of his life to the fullest. My memories of Travis are of a man always able to bring a smile to anybody’s face and never willing to back down from anything in which he believed. I am proud and honored to say that I knew him and would like to offer my sincerest condolences to his wife, his brother Josh and the rest of his family and friends. Rest in peace Sgt. “Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Words will never express the deep sorrow and sadness that I feel. As the mother of an Army Sgt., I understand the committment of our military members. I also know the sacrifices that are made by their spouses & children, their parents, their step-parents, their siblings, their grandparents, and their friends. I appreciate your sacrifices and thank God every day for men and women in this country that are willing to serve their country and pay the ultimate price.

I spent most of my early childhood holidays at the Hulse farm and hearing about this really brought me back. I keep thinking of Travis as a little boy, but it is nice to hear about him growing up into such a solid man. My heart goes out to the Hulses and Phisters during this time.

I knew Travis as one of my nephew Jere's friends. The one thing I remember most about Travis is that he had a sincere respect for others that made him stand out from the rest of the crowd. A personality that you couldn't help but like and want to be around. It's unfortunate that we have to learn more about his life as a son, a brother, a grandson, a friend and a husband after he is gone, but the stories and memories I have read about Travis makes me proud to have had the opportunity to know him. Travis was a Marine that died for his country ... To me there is no nobler way to go. We will miss you. The Matthews Family.

You can't measure a person's life in years - you must measure the quantity and quality of life in his years. While Travis may have lived a longer life, he could not have lived a fuller life.

I too am a parent of a Marine from Kennewick, Wa. He's due to be deployed in March-07 for his 3rd tour and I pray up one side and down the other that I never have to go threw what your family is having to go threw. But knowing the Marine family and all they stand for that they are here for all our children. I will be standing PROUD at the memorial for Travis on Sunday. Like Chance has always told me that "It's just a job" Mom and someone has to do it. From one Marine family to another "We are all in it for the long haul" !
I have all of you in my blessing and prayers. I have no other Miltary family that I can talk to and express what my fears and concerns are. I hope I haven't rambled on about my own issues and fears.

God Bless all our Marine children !

Travis was a friend of my husbands and I only got to meet him and his wife once and it was several years ago. I saw how much he made people laugh and smile. A truely happy person and great Marine. His death has saddened us both and he will truely be missed. Thank you for all you've done Travis...for your country, family, friends and fellow Marines. You won't be forgotten.

Jessica and family,

The loss of Travis has left a hole in the hearts of the Purple Fox community. Travis risked his life everyday to save countless soliders and civilians lives. To say he was a hero is an understatement. May you have peace knowing how much he is loved by all of us.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

To Travis's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.
Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!
Our sincerest gratitude for their bravery-
