Laquita, so often I think of you and the boys. Stephen and Wessley were like best friends when stationed at Kings Bay. You were such a dear friend to me. We saw each other and supported each other through some stuff lol I know you have been at rest and in peace for a very long time. You are still very much missed. From Indiana with so much love ~Leah Woods (Davis)

Laquita, we're coming up on 11 years since you've been gone and my heart still hurts from your absence. We had gotten so close in such a short amount of time. You were such a kind and gentle spirit. Since you've been gone I haven't found another friend and I'm so lonely. I had a daughter a year after you died and you would've been the best aunt. I love and miss you still, shipmate.

LaQuita it is 3:25a.m. On that day 8 years ago they knocked at the door to say you went home. It was very hard to hear them then and now very hard to believe. But you are forever in my heart. There has not been a day that I haven't thought about you or something that you did that brings me a smile. Even the times you would follow me around the house to tell me about your day at school even when I did not know that person lol. When the children did something you would call me. I looked forward to those phone calls. Those handsome men you left with me brings me joy Steve always telling me about his friends rather I know them or not (lol). D'Jimon telling me something funny that happened they remind me soooo much of you. Never a dull moment Now they are grown men in college. You would be so proud.

Happy Birthday Quita, Had a chance to share your story on yesterday. Felt good as I talked about your love for family. I remebered that Saturday evening June 16,1979 Alison and I was wrapping gifts for father's day and you said " Auntie Alison you can have your baby on my birthday I don't mind". The next day she did. My Dad's 2nd grand child born on father's day June 17th what a blessing. LaQuita and Jaminan sharing the same Bday on Father's Day 6 years difference bonded them sooo close. Again I say Happy Birthday You are missed I love You.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

To All Parents
“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of Mine,” He said.
“For you to love the While he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or 22 or three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief.
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace and relief.
“I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are some lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to take him back again?”
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may
And for the happiness we’ve known forever grateful stay;
But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.”

To the family: I too am a master-at-arms and I served with her in Kings Bay, Georgia. She was a very determined person and worked hard. She was always working harder than the next person and it showed. Her passing comes as a shock to me as I was looking through the war casualties page. Everytime she walked in the room she made everyone smile. I know she loved her sons and they will truley miss her. She is definitely a hero. I am sorry for your loss and may god bless you all.

LaQuita was a great friend of mine and I will always think of her as my sister. She was a friend to me when no one else was. Listened and offered advice and I will never forget her. When her mom died she called me and we cried together because I knew her through her mom. Our lives were so similar. I offered her a bit of advice during her grieving even though I could not make it for the funeral. We kept in contact all the time. I considered her one of my very best friends. I would always ask her when she was going to visit me in NY, since she had never been here before. She told me just last January that she would visit after this last deployment. I loved her and her children. My deepest condolenses goes out to LaQuita's family, her children, her sister, her grandmother and various aunts & cousins. LaQuita would have been 34 years old next week, she is still alive in my heart - Happy BDAY sis!

April 29, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To Mr.Cecil and the family,

I will continuously keep the children, both parents, family & friends in my prayers. I'ved been told that GOD offered another one of his loving soliders home to enjoy his eternal palace. Quita will be truly missed and loved here on earth. I can remember the days growing up and Quita being a good friend coming over to Myrtis house to visit her family. Well Equilla, Bryant, and Azizi use to have to share Quita's attention when she visited. She was one person that was loved by everyone on the street. Me and my sister Sheka across the street from Mrytis always looked forward to the weekend. There was times Mr. Cecil you use to buy us things from Mrytis house, sit on the porch w/ us all the children in the neighborhood, and enjoyed our conversions and company(Catherine daughter's). Those where the good ole days and I truly will remember them and the family. I just read in the paper that Azizi got married Congrads! and noticed the passing of her father, who also was a kind man. I dont know how long it's been, but it also was sadden news to me. I will continue my love stay prayed up. GOD has alot of angles protecting you and the family, it is a beautiful experience I know. You may not understand what I mean now, but trust me you will see. You raised a loving daughter and now GOD needed her help above protecting us below.

Stay blessed and loving,

Max Parker, Jr.

The boys are strong due to you. You have done a great job with them. They will always know that your around to show and guide their way. I'm sorry that I couldn't make it but Al was there for you and the rest of the security crew. Be at Peace my friend.

To Cecil Pate & The Pate-James family:
We extend our heartfelt sympathy as you mourn the loss of LaQuita. Some among the Panther Nation have experienced the un-natural nightmare of losing a child (it matters not the age) and others can only imagine. We encourage you to remember the words of David who realized that our loss is only temporary and that somday we can go to be with them. May God bring you comfort, healing and peace during this time of sorrow and in days to come.

To the Family: I pray for your sorrow but I believe that LaQuita is in Heaven encouraging you all to believe she will be there waiting to see you all again one day.
To Stephen and Di'Jimon: Know that your Mother, as a young adult, was a vibrant, strong, and caring person. I will remember how she was such a nice person and anyone who knew her, knew she was ordained for a special purpose in life. I will be praying for you.
