Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Thomas Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Sean M. Thomas US Army Master Sergeant. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

RIP MSgt. Thomas. Thank you for your service to our country. I was one of the emergency responders to arrive on scene immediately after the attack. There were many people trying to help you and Ms. Edwards. I wish I could have done more.

May 28, 2010

I had met Master SGT Sean Thomas a week or two before at the Embassy. I was impressed with his friendly demeanor & the company he kept. I had planned on getting to know him better as he was a real likeable guy. Just weeks later, I was delayed inside the Embassy and would have been outside when the attack came. The shock of the incident struck hard when I learned that Sean was involved. I noted the respect and love for Sean at the memorial service, I think of him often and a possible friendship that will never be.

I have provided presentations on life in Baghdad to some local groups, I include Sean in them to make sure he is remembered & so that all may know that the price paid for thier freedoms was paid in full by Sean, his family & others like him.

I served with Master SGT Sean Thomas in his last 6 months of life, and now as I look back on the events, I may have been the only person who Sean said Goodbye to, It was just a few hours earlier Sean and his unit put me on a convoy home. I learned about the rocket the next morning as I checked in with his unit, to let them know I had made it to Kuwait. I can still to this day remember him playing ping-pong with Nap, hanging out in the chow hall joking and making the best of things. Or even the last words we spoke to each other... saying how I wish I could have stayed longer, and he was willing to take my seat home... RIP Sean your pal Petty Officer 2nd Class Cook (AKA Cookie)...

To his wife Carrie, mother Diana, and family and friends;

My name is Jeffery Reel, I was a Navy Corpsman (Doc) with a Marine Unit at the Embassy with Sean. I did not know Sean prior to his death, however, I was the one who treated him at the scene of the attack at the Embassy. I was the first to arrive, I was in charge of his care at the scene, and I transported him to the hospital. Despite my best efforts, I was unable to save him that day. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Sean and what happened that night at the Embassy. I also attended the memorial services at the Embassy as well. I wanted to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. If you wish, please contact me at 765-546-2348 which is my cell number. Any questions you may have about that night, I would be happy to talk to you.

Another year since Sean's death. This is his mom, our lives will never be the same. His smile lit up a room and he could talk his way out of anything and make us laugh while doing it. Such joy Sean brought to all who knew him we see Him in Alexa and she makes us laugh, our family loves her so much, Carrie is doing well. We laugh we cry we all have our memories. Thank all of you for rembering Sean. We are very blessed, Sean has been rembered in so many good ways. All of our soldiers deserve to be honered in every way.

Thank You

Through the wonders of Facebook I was just chatting with a common friend of Sean and mine and I learned of Sean's passing. Of course I Googled him and saw all the articles on him and his family and was truly saddened and happy at the same time. I was saddened to see he left a wife and child with his passing, but happy that in all the pictures I saw that Sean was still "Sean". I was his Resident Advisor (RA) when he first went to Kutztown and had the "luck" to have a room next to his. How many times did I have to come out and tell him to be quiet at 2 AM for yelling "hoo-rah"?!?!? But that was Sean and he was just a big teddy bear and that shows how much he wanted to do what he was doing. And obviously if I searched as much as I did for information about what happened, he meant a lot more to a lot more people than he probably ever realized. Cheers Sean - i'd have been there to pay my respects had I known buddy.

Every year on Memorial Day, I choose a fallen soldier to honor for about fifteen minutes in front of the flag. Usually, I just pick a soldier at random and don't really search to hard because all fallen soldiers are worth remembering. This year, I searched quite a bit and I found Sean. His story touched me like no other did. Later today, our family of five will talk about Sean and share his story. I hope that it touches my sisters (ages ten and six) as it touched me (age thirteen). God bless Carrie and Alexa and rest in peace, Sean.
Love from NC.

I was serving in Baghdad in a civilian capacity at the time Sgt. Thomas was taken. I had just walked past the spot where he died and gone into the palace minutes before the incoming fire. When I got back onto the street he was already being assisted by others better equipped to give him aid. I attended his memorial service in the palace chapel and met some of his fellow soldiers. It was a great honor. I have frequently been moved to pray for his wife and daughter and, by God's grace, will continue to do so. His death is real and difficult and as hard as anything in this life can be for those he leaves behind. But it is not the last word. May God bless his loved ones.

For the past 5 months I've been trying to think of the right words to write here...Sean was an amazing guy. I knew Sean when we were kids, then lost touch, and then ran into him a few years ago. He was still the fun, loving person I remembered. He could put a smile on your face no matter what was going on. He had that crazy dog, Morphius. They made a perfect pair. My 9 year old only knew Sean for a short time, but in that time he grew to idolize him. Whenever he sees a soldier, he talks about Sean. Every now and then, he'll start talking about him for no apparent reason. He cherishes everything he can find that somehow reminds him of Sean. I'll never forget the way he laid his head on my lap and sobbed during the funeral. It's hard to believe that one man can touch a child's heart so much in that short amount of time. Danny and Diana, you raised a wonderful son. We'll never forget him. You are all in our prayers. Jim, Michele (Thomas), Matt, Greg, and Kyle Stahl

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I was in Williamsport on Monday, July 2 (just passing thru on my motorcycle and just happend to stop at a Dennys restaurant for a break) and the I noticed the article in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette about the celebration of Seans life. I bought the paper so I could take it to my hotel to read. I was very moved by the article. I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with your family, his wife and daughter. I know first hand the pain of dealing with the loss of loved one in Iraq. I lost my nephew, PFC Charles S. Cooper Jr. on April 29, 2005. Hang on the the memories, cherish them, that is all we have left and celebrating Seans life, not his death is wonderful. They may not have been here along time, but they were here for a purpose and it was to protect our country, our freedoms and all that we sometimes take for granted. I am so proud on Sean, he will never be forgotten. He is a hero of God now and is still protecting us. They are Angels.... God Bless you and your family.

To All the Thomas Family,

We are so distraught about Sean's loss. He was always the beacon of light in the family - he always made everyone seem special & brought laughter into all our lives! Even if he was the one who was "the brunt of the joke", he would still be laughing the loudest! What a wonderful young man Sean was. We all have so many fond memories!

His daughter, Alexa (through Carrie, his wife) will always be close with your family & be the best part of Sean that we have to remember & honor him.

God bless all of you & we hope, in time, that the pain will lessen, though we will always remember Sean & his fun-filled ways.

Carrie,I wrote this poem in honor of Sean.I think you know how much you,Alexa and your entire family are in all of our prayers.May God bless and watch over all of you!

Through The Eyes Of A Child

Proudly serving his country
with his head held high,
in the face of danger
he did not run,did not hide.
In his wallet he carried a picture
of his daughter and his wife,
just a few weeks ago
he was holding each closely,
holding each tight.
14 years of service
given to the country that he loved,
until the day he was called home
from the Father above.
Through the eyes of a child
his spirit lives on,
though his time on this earth
has come and gone.
Many hearts are now broken
by this horrible pain.
Now he walks with Jesus,
forever to reign.

Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To Sean's Family,
I grew up with Sean and haven’t seen him since graduation, but I have no doubt that he was outstanding citizen, husband, father, son and a hero. I would like to send my deep heartfelt condolences. We have all lost family and friends in this war and feel your sorrow and pain.

To Carrie and the parents of Sean:
For those who knew him, they were blessed, for those who did not know him are also blessed by hearing about his life and how courageous an honorable he was. His spirit lives on in all of you who carry him in your hearts. Love never dies. God Bless you and remain with you. He makes the weak strong.
Be brave, hold your heads up high, he has left you to carry on his honor. I salute Sean Thomas for protecting me, a US citizen.

Carrie and family
I was sadden the day that I received word of Sean, I had worked with Sean for a short time in the Property Book Office at Ft. Indiantown Gap and got to know him as a fun loving guy who loved life and that he really loved his family. I know that he will be watching over you and your little girl. I was sorry that I could not make the services for Sean, I just had a operation and was unable to travel, but he is always in my mind and I will never forget that cheerful smile of his to say that everything will be all right. God Bless you and your family in the comimg days and the Lord will provide you the strenght to carry on and some day see Sean.

MSG Thomas was one of my supply Seargents while I was in Company Command at the 728th. I knew him as a young NCO and he was the epitomy of a great soldier. My heart is heavy with the loss of such a great man. Although he had not been under my command for some years now, I still feel as he is one of my troops. Sean, your ultimate sacrafice is not in vain, I salute you. Go with God.

Carrie & Alexa,

Please excuse me for the period of time it has taken me to compose this message. I just want to say, after trying to write something to express how much of a loss Sean was to this deployment, I STILL can not come up with the words to describe it. I will say though that Sean and I became friends because to this deployment and he will always be in my thoughts and prayers. We had planned to do a lot of things together, with you and Alexa, me and Lisa, when we got back. We were talking even that fateful night at chow of the times we had prepping at Dix, the time in Kuwait, and the moments shared in Baghdad. We laughed at the times we were going to have back home. Almost like in Tommy Boy the movie; he was “Richard”, I was “Tommy”, and we were going to have a great time golfing, eating wings, and most of all giving the other a hard time in general. I know the guys at the weekly card game will miss him and his wise cracking smile, so we have set aside a chair for him at the table for every week we have left; just so he knows its there for him.

I just want to say Carrie, Sean was a great soldier, a great friend, and a great man who only wanted the best for you, his child, and the Army.

God Bless You and Alexa,
SFC Kevin Wagner (Wags)

To The Thomas Family-
My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you. Although Sean is no longer physically with us his trademark smile will shine through with every smile and echo of laughter in his daughter, Alexa. Sean put the meaning in the word hero and truly symblizes what this country bases itself on - bravery. It makes me proud to know people like Sean exist in this chaotic world and that his selflessness shined through to the very end. Please know how much love and support are behind all of you. God bless!!
