James "Jim" Joseph Dowrick, 66, of Media, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26th, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Darby on September 11, 1959, he was the son of the late Edward and Nancy (Werntz) Dowrick. He was graduate of Archmere Academy in Delaware before earning his Bachelor at Penn State Main in State College.
Jim's greatest joy in life was the project of being a single dad. Known to some as "Jimmy D," to others as "Mr. Ray Ray," and always simply "Dad," he wore the role proudly. Anyone who met Jimmy D quickly realized how central Eric and Lindsay were to his heart; they were the heartbeat of his life.
He was the life of the party, carrying a rare charisma that drew people in and lingered long after he left. His laugh could fill a room, his jokes could light up a moment, and his love for dancing and celebrating life was contagious.
His greatest quality was his resilience and his unwavering positivity through life's many challenges. Even on tough days, he found a way to stay lighthearted: cracking jokes, staying silly, and finding the bright side in every moment.
He was endlessly selfless: whether taking Lindsay's entire cheer team out to dinners or hosting Eric and Lindsay's friends that became his second family on his beloved Outer Banks vacations, he poured his love into everyone around him.
He took great pride in his work at Ameriflex for 20 years. He was the first sales person and grew the company into what it is today. He always sold through human connection, utilizing the phrase "selling off the wall" and constantly mentoring others. He worked extremely hard, and played even harder.
Jim was an avid Philly sports fan who loved Sunday gatherings fueled by Grey Goose and never watched a game without a bet on the line. The perfect day for him was simple: a poolside in the Outer Banks with loved ones, laughter all around, and ending the night playing catchphrase, "Switch," proudly wearing his Raycation T-shirt.
He was somebody, who made everyone feel like a somebody. He was a true legend.
Surviving are his two beloved children, Eric E. Dowrick and his wife, Samantha Rochester Dowrick of Broomall and Lindsay R. Dowrick of Morrisville and his furry grandchildren, Miracle and Kirby.
Additionally surviving are his brother, Jack F. Dowrick and his wife Eileen (Torelli) Dowrick of Ridley Park and their children, Brian Dowrick, Rachel (Dowrick) Connor, and Stephen Dowrick and his uncle, Jack C. Dowrick of Chadds Ford.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 6th, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00pm in Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd.,
Broomall, PA 19008. Please, check back on Monday for additional viewing and Mass times for Saturday.
