Served side by side with SSG Clint Moore in the same section of the 4/64 Armor Scout Platoon during OIF 1 from 2002-2003. One of the most bravest and highly skilled soldiers to ever put in a uniform. We bonded like brothers over there and Clint and I always talked about going back home to Fayetteville, NC and having a BBQ sandwich from Smithfield BBQ. Kept the laughs going with his Ric Flair impersonations!! I loved him and all the guys in the Scout Platoon like brothers. He is and will always be truly missed and he has them all up in heaven laughing at this Flair strut and the Woo!! God bless the Moore family and the glorious Scout Platoon of 4/64 Armor. SCOUTS OUT!!

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of William Clint Moore US Army Staff Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Today I was at the Memorial Day ceremony in front of the Johnston County Courthouse. A monument was unveiled that has the names of Johnston County natives whose lives were sacrificed for our country. I looked to see Clint's name and saw it there with the others. He will not be forgotten. I am proud to have had a middle school music and band student who went on to become the hero that he was and still is. My prayers are with you all on this special day.

Brother,
It is hard to believe it has been two years. I think about you everytime I hear an old country song that we used to listen to hanging out. Every Sunday when I walk out of church I see your flag pole and Old Glory waving reminding me that you and many others sacrificed it all for us and our nation. I wish you could be hear to see my son who is now three and just as hard headed and adventurous as we used to be. I miss you brother, see you on the other side.

Clint my brother, tomorrow is memorial day, 2008. It has been a little over a year now since you left us. Memorial day has always had an honored meaning to me but now it really hits home. You and those who have sacrificed it all, will always be in my thoughts and my teachings to my children. My children will know what someone who didn't know them has given them. I miss you brother and I look forward to seeing you again on that day when we meet in the sky.

To the family and friends of Clint:
I just recently found out about the loss of Clint. I was a teacher at South Johnston High School from 1990-1999 at which time I came back home to West Virginia. Words cannot express the sorrow and emotions that I feel for the loss of such a wonderful person. I remember Clint as being so full of life and happy-go-lucky. Being former military myself, Clint and I often talked about the military life and what it meant to serve this great country. With all of that said, I must say that even through the sorrow I feel proud. Proud not because of his death, but proud for having the honor and privilige to have known him. I am proud because Clint was and still is what is good about America. When times are at their worst, Clint like many others , sacrificed the most precious gift (life) for others. I want to thank you the parents of Clint for instilling in him all the right values that he lived and died for. I hope my words offer some peace to you and help you to know that Clint was loved and respected by many. At the same time, I know it has been difficult for your loss. Please accept my condolences and my tears as my small way to express my gratitude and thanks for giving the world a great person in Clint. I am honored to have known him.
May God Bless You,

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know William, but I am remembering on

He is my hero.

Staff Sgt. William C. Moore
To the Family of Staff Sgt. William C. Moore though words alone are not enough to take away your grief, may caring thoughts and sincere concern help bring your heart relief?
I had the pleasure of meeting Staff Sgt. William C. Moore at Fort Irwin on January 31, 2004. Staff Sgt. Moore was my Son Christopher’s first line Supervisor at Fort Stewart, Ga. They flew into Fort Irwin for a couple of weeks for some special desert training prior to being shipped to Iraq. My wife and I met our son at the Hotel there on the base and our son asked if he could have some of the troops over for a poker game.
The poker game ended and that’s when the real games began. The boys really cut loose and had a good time and of course Sgt. Moore was leading the pack in arm and wrist wrestling, and of course pounding beers. It didn’t take long to know that those men that worked under Sgt. Moore had a great deal of respect for their Sergeant.
We had a lot of laughs but more importantly that evening I got to know Sgt. Moore enough to know that he loved his Family, Country and the Military. All gave some, but Sgt. Moore gave it all and my wife and I will be eternally grateful.
All things under the sun are temporal and we find that death is universal, whichever we are, strong, weak, rich, poor, famous, or alone, we all die. We must look to the one above the sun for eternal things. Find comfort in knowing that in the end, there is a new beginning.
To Sgt. Moore’s family you are in our thoughts and prayers, keep Clint’s legacy alive by keeping those great memories of him close to your heart, whenever you feel sad at the loss of Clint just remember all the great times you shared together and remember through you, Clint’s love will always live on.
Any parent would have been proud to have Clint as a Son…
God Bless,
Jim and Helen Silva

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

To the family of SSG Moore,
I served with your son in OIF 1. He was a great guy and could always get a laugh out of you. I enjoyed giving him a bad time about his accent. He was a great soldier and the Scout Platoon he was in was the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They were better for having your son as part of that team. I promise you that SSG Moore will be sorely missed by the rest of the guys at 4-64AR that worked with him and you all will be in our thoughts and prayers. I am very proud to say I knew your son and that I had the opportunity to serve with him. My deepest sypanthies and condolences on your loss of such a fine young man.

To Clint’s family, I give my humble condolences. I also pray that Our Father in heaven gives you the strength and wisdom to understand why He called Clint home so soon.
I met Clint for the first time when he came home on leave this last time at a restaurant. I took one look at him and could tell he was in some branch of the military. Once we met eye contact, we began to talk like we were old friends. We talked for one sold hour. We seemed to have so much in common, He told he the branch of military he was in and how happy he was to be home, where he was stations, he even introduced me to Leann, her husband and his friends. We exchanged numbers and addresses like we know each other for years.
Clint,
I know you are in the hands of the Almighty GOD, and I thank Him for given me the opportunity to meet you and talk to you. Seeing you was a blessing. You gave me the strength I needed to continue to pray not only for my son that is over there but for all the Young men such as your self. Sleep tight My Hero

Clint,
My brother, bestfriend, allie. I hope you have seen the outpour of support you've received. I've tried to make sure your story has been told and I will always do so. Everytime I look in the mirror I see your face in mine and in Thomas'. I vow to NEVER let him forget you. I hope that someday he will be as proud of his name as I am that he carries it. Sometimes I can close my eyes and see and hear you playing the pianio. You know you didn't have to do this to be my hero because you always have been, but I'm so very thankful you did. You will be with me forever. If it's not too much trouble please look after Thomas. I hope you and Elvis are having plenty of jam sessions. Tell mom I love her and save a place for me. I WILL see you again. I have to say you went out in style, just the way you'd want to. I think next January I'll try to get together some friends, rent a limo and go to the oyster bar. I'll even try to like sea food by then! I'm not sure how to go on, but I will because my fight has never been stronger. Daddy raised two fine soldiers who never learned what the word quit means. I could search the world over and never find another friend like you. Thank you for your smile, it is burned deep in my mind and it brings me happiness. I love you Clint.
Love, your little sister,

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I wish you knew how much we all miss you. I know that you are in Heaven looking down on us all and watching over us. Thank you for being the wonderful person that you were and for bringing smiles to the faces of every one of us who knew you. You will never be forgotten and all of the memories of us as kids playing at Holly Grove will never be forgotten. Love and miss you! Job well done!

Clint -
As I sit here signing this guest book of yours, and see your photograph to the right it still seems so surreal. I mean people leave us every day, right? It's just so hard to come to terms with the fact that it has hit so hard and close to home with your passing. I can still remember the "show" we put on at Castaway's a few summer's back with our Karaoke version of Kid Rock & Cheryl Crow's "Picture!" What I would give for you to be able to "come back home" today. We never dated~we were never best friends, nor did we see each other that frequent, but I knew you and you knew me and this hurts...my heart literally hurts, and I mourn your loss. The support for you around here is unbelievable. I rode past where you rest yesterday after work, and I wept. Your family is in my prayers, and I am so proud to have the opportunity to say that I have been in your presence, and knew such a man as yourself. You are our hero...gone from sight, but NEVER from our hearts.

Clint,
You almost became my brother-in-law. You were still considered family. I will forever love you. Charlie also wants to extend his love to you. Gone from our lives, but never from our hearts. Clint lives on forever!

I went to high school and graduated with Clint. Although I did not know him well what I do know about him is that he really was a nice guy who was always smiling. I only wish I had grasped the opportunity to get to know him better. To all his family and friends...I hope you take comfort in knowing that he will forever be an American Hero. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.
Rest in Peace Clint

God Bless Legacy.com for allowing us to honor these heros.
We can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your young Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter has served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With the mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has William in his arms and will give him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and Staff Sgt. William C. Moore, our HERO. We are so proud of them that are willing to sacrifice for this great Nation, THANK YOU.
