Aaron Gautier Obituary

HAMPTON - CPL Aaron D. Gautier, 19, of Hampton, passed May 17, 2007, paying the ultimate price for freedom in Iraq. A U.S. Army veteran whose proudest accomplishment was graduating infantry school, Aaron enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two little sisters. He attended Bethel High School, where he was a member of the Army JROTC unit. Aaron found enjoyment in the smallest things in life, and was quick to find friendship in everyone he encountered. Aaron is survived by his best friend and wife, Lindsey Gautier; his mother, Tina Houchins, and stepdad, Donald 'Bubba,' of Newport News; father, Daniel Gautier, and wife, Tracy; in-laws, Matt and Debbie Kozma of Lakewood, Wash.; grandparents, Daniel and Teresa Richey of Wilmington, N.C., Brian and Dottie Coleman of Hampton, Ken and Pat Lenorman of Newport News; step-grandmother, Saundra Mayes of Hopewell; great-grandfather, Ray Grieve of Hampton; two sisters, Tricia Gautier and Alexis Houchins of Newport News; aunt, Val Gautier-Conlon, and uncle, Jimmy, of Newport News; aunt, Tracy Boswell of Hopewell; uncle, RC Stockum of Hampton; and a host of family and friends. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Chapel of the Centurion, Fort Monroe. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens. Anyone planning to attend the funeral service needs to bring proper identification and registration. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Friends are encouraged to visit www.mem.com to share words of comfort with the family. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666.

I was on escorting detail for Aaron's family, I've never met a more loving family. I just had a son a couple of months before his passing and had done Casualty Assistance duty for awhile, but nothing touch me more than his passing. I think of Aaron everyday, going on 20 years and he showed me to truly appreciate every single soldier we have in the Army, but more importantly how my decisions could effect just not the soldier but the family. I had time to talk to Dan (Aaron's Dad) and I truly admire him as a father. Everyday I give my son a kiss goodnight I think of Aaron and Dan always. Words can not express the sacrifice the family has had to endure but know its not in vain.

Though I never met Aaron, I wish I had. I have known Aaron's Grd-dad for about all his life. You don't meet a better person than Danny, and Aaron was a chip off the old block from what I know. He was a hero.

To Tina, Danny,Trish and the whole world that Arron touched..I too had only known Arron when he was small, but from I have read about him and see how many hearts he touched and how sorely he is missed, I can see by not knowing him was truley my loss. Saying thank you for what you gave for our country just doesn't seem enough.

June 10, 2010

I signed the guest book in 2007 but feel the need to make another entry. Aaron and my grandson, Stefan Brewster, were in the same company and were friends both at Fort Lewis Washington and in Iraq. Stefan Survived Iraq and is now in Special Forces school. When Aaron was killed, it had a profound effect on Stefan and therefore also on me. I still think of Aaron all the time, and of the sacrifice made by his family. I just want you to know that I have not forgotten and will never forget what Aaron did and what he gave for his country. You, his family and friends, are in my prayers.

A Prayer For Our Soldiers ~~

DEAR FATHER UP IN HEAVEN
WE COME HUMBLY TO YOU TODAY,
THINKING OF OUR SOLDIERS
WHO ARE VERY FAR AWAY........

WE ASK FOR YOUR PROTECTION LORD
PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE AND WARM,
AND WHEN EVIL LURKS AROUND THEM
KEEP THEM FROM ALL HARM........

BLESS EACH FAMILY AND THEIR CHILDREN
WHO GO THROUGH DRED EACH DAY
WONDERING IF THEY WILL COME HOME
OR ARE THEY GONE TO STAY.......

GOD PLEASE PROTECT OUR SOLDIERS
WHO FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRYS NAME,
PLEASE DEAR LORD KEEP THEM SAFE
AND BRING THEM HOME AGAIN........

OUR COUNTRY STANDS FOR FREEDOM
WE FIGHT TO KEEP THE CAUSE,
WE MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER
NO MATTER WHAT THE COST......

SO DEAR FATHER UP IN HEAVEN
WONT YOU HEAR OUR PLEA,
BRING PEACE TO EVERY NATION LORD
SO OUR COUNTRY WILL BE FREE........

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

2 Cor 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
The Goodness of God shines brightly through the lives of Travis' family even in this tragic loss. PTL they know the hope that comes from knowing Jesus and they will see him again one day. May you always find comfort and strength through Him-God will lift you up through others at times... and has certainly shown Himself gloriously through each of you!
Phil 1:12-13 I see being lived out in this time... :-) God Bless and keep you all!!!

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

The Other Side

I’m over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
Left my skin and bones behind
now I’m over on the other side.

Can you feel me there with you?
My breath is gone but I’m not through.
Loved you then and I still do
from over on the other side.

I can fly. Really fly.
Below the earth ... all through the sky.
Tell em all i did not die.
I’m just over on the other side.

It’s good here on the other side.
The sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
Thank you for the tears you cried
but its good here on the other side.

I can fly. Really fly. Below the earth...all through the sky.
Tell em all I did not die.
I’m just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
Where life and death softly divide.
When you leave your skin and bones behind
I’ll be waiting on the other side.

I can fly. Really fly. Below the earth ... all through the sky.
Go tell em all I did not die.
I’m just over on the other side.

My Condolences went out to this young man's family when I first saw his death announcement in the daily press in 2007. It touched so much because he was a young fellow here in our Northampton Community. Even though I did not know him personally, I probably had encounterd him; knew other kids that know him, and had just seen him around. Memorial Day 2008, as I placed the flags early in the morning to honor those gone on and later for those that are still here, I thought about Aaron. I want his family to know that the community was impacted as well, and we all remember Aaron too.

To the family and friends of Pfc. Aaorn D. Gautier:

I know that this is an extremely difficult day for all of you, and I want you to know that Aaron's sacrifice is not forgotten. Don't be discouraged that you still miss him and think about Aaron in everything that you do. When you have loved someone for all of your life, you can't expect to forget them in a day. My uncle SSG Gregory A. Wagner was killed in Iraq on May 8, 2006. I continue to think about him everyday, and I imagine him with me in everything that I do. My faith tells me that he is in a better place of love and peace, but my selfishness wants him here with me. I am praying for everyone who ever loved Aaron today. I am thankful for his service to America, and like you I am looking forward to the day when I will meet up with my family hero again.

May God bless you and watch over you always!

Just knowing that today is the day one year ago that your life was ended in a far away place and we all received the call that you had gave your all. We are all saddened and will grieve as long as we live. I like all your family did not want you to die, but the fact that you did and how you made us all proud of your actions,,you are truly a family hero, and that I know you would love to hear. God will grant us the honor of seeing you again some day,,,I salute you my Grandson,,my hero.

This book serves as a testimony to the love and devotion of Aaron, his family and friends and others that his short life was well done on this earth. I and all his famiy are so proud of him and all he stands for. I still cry when I visit this page, look at his picture and the mention of his name.
My only son, Danny Richey and only Grandson, Aaron left this world much to soon as they had a lot of living yet to do but God in his almight wisdom has seen fit to have them with him and let their lives show what being a man is all about. Always remembered as my boys and as long as any of his family lives,,so will he never be forgotten. I love you guys forever,,you have made this old man a better man for your sacrafice.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I am So greatfull to have known Aaron. We met in Middle School. Yall may not remember me, its been about 5 years now. I remember walking home with him and Erin Thompson and all of us hanging out. Also it was funny when we would all have to get out of the house because no one was home and no one was supposed to be inside.(sorry aaron I had to get a laugh in) I miss Aaron greatly and I am so sorry for yalls loss. I know Aaron loved his family, he talked about yall constantly. I know everyone says time will heal and right now its hard to think that way, but just know Aaron is in a better place looking down on us all.

To all those whom have shown your support during this time, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Loosing my son was and is something I thought I would never have to go through and would never want any parent to endure. The pain of missing him daily is something that I will have to live with until I see him again. I am very proud of him for his accomplishments and the man he turned out to be. Now I have to be brave as he was for his sisters, Trish and Alexis. I have so many great memories that I will cherish and share with them always of the funny things that there brother did and as well as them sharing there memories. Aaron was very much loved by family and friends. And he gave me a wonderful daughter-in that is a beautiful person. He grew up to be a wonderful son, husband, and friend. Aaron is my love and joy forever and I will always be proud that I am his mother.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Aaron

If tears could bring you back, you would be here
If wishes were granted, you would always be near
If love could build a bridge to get where you are
there would never be a place that was ever to far
Alas we cannot hold you, or see your smiling face
I cannot volunteer, to ever take your place
Knowing how much you are loved, by so many left behind
The lives you touched, memories you created in so little time
All the plans we had for you, places yet to go
Things yet to accomplish, we will never know
You felt a greater calling, a much greater and powerful thing
so others could live free and let that freedom ring
Yes, we are all grateful, I read your Obituary just today
The ones who wrote about you, great things they had to say
you made us proud of you, oh your medals, how they shine
But your not here to wear them, or see this golden shrine
I only wish they all had known you, how you had so much fun
But I do, and will forever be so proud of you,,,my Grandson

Aaron was a great friend. Always there to put a smile on your face or if someone need help he was the first to come. Aaron was an awesome man. As a teen he was sooo cute and as a man he was more than cute! His wife was lucky to have such an awesome man and hero! I wish her and the family the best and they are in my prayers!

Our deepest sympathies are with you... No words can describe what you are going through, just know you are in our thoughts and daily prayers..God's peace be with all of Aaron Daniel's family and friends.
Jesus said "Blessed are those that mourn..." and "Call unto to me those who are weary, and I will give you rest"
All our love, David and Michele Deese.
Here is a poem...

I THE FALLEN SOLDIER

Don't weep for me
O' land of the free,
When it was my time to fall
'Twas for my country's call
'Twas for the land that I loved
That I gave my all,
And for the land that I loved
I did freely give,
And in her freedom and her
courage
I'll continue to live.."
WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU AARON.

Father we entrust our brother Aaron to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Aaron in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.
