We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Michael W. Davis

Just heard/read about Mike's story on television and online. I never knew him but as a fellow solider (albeit Canadian), the common experience of loss is one that's heartbreaking and sadly all too familiar. Taryns story is equally powerful but in the positive. This family deserves all the best.

Michael, I know your parents, Warner and Sonya and sister, Jessica. We were neighbors in State College, PA. Your dad was such a wonderful role model for my son, as was your mother for my daughter. They were wonderful friends & neighbors of ours. My daughter, Dawn, babysat for your big sister, Jessica. I remember that at Christmas time your parents gave us gifts. I was a single mom doing the best I could, but never expected those beautiful presents. Your mother was so beautiful and your dad very handsome!! We were so fortunate to know such very good people. We never knew you or Natalie, because your family had moved before you two were born. I would love to find your parents again. I sincerely thank you for your service to our country and for our freedom because of your sacrifices. Rest in peace in God's arms. May He bless and comfort your family and look after you forever. If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I knew Mikey when he was a little boy who grew up to be a fine man. I just received the news today in the mail and I am saddened to hear of Mikey's passing. Growing up as a military brat, I ended up in Poulsbo, WA. There I met a wonderful family-
Jess and I were in the same grade and I was a constant fixture at the Davis family home. I remember playing tetherball in the backyard with Natalie and Mikey and getting so mad that 6 years younger, Mikey always beating me! I remember growing up and missing them so much once they moved away (such is the life in a military town) Our families have remained friends for the last 16 years and upon hearing the news about my surrogate little brother Mikey, I was devastated. My prayers and thoughts go out to the entire Davis family, and to his lovely wife, who I never got the chance to meet, but was highly thought of by Mikey's sisters and Mom.

Everyone goes through their own stages of grief, and I feel for the families. Please know that I am so proud of Mikey and what he fought for. He was truly someone to be admired and I honor and cherish his memory. I pray for his fellow soldiers and their safety, and hold dear in my heart that he died trying to help other people. That is so selfless and so like him.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.

SPC Davis was a true Warrior! I did not know him personally, but found out about him through my brother, Dusty, in San Marcos. I am truly sorry for your loss!! Rest assured, Michael will not be forgotten and you have our full support in making sure his sacrifice will never be in vain!! He is a modern day HERO in every sense of the word! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Davis family, friends, and loved ones. I have a brother over there with the 10th Mtn. Div., and I can only imagine what you are going through. All I can say is accept the support of the people around you. Lean on them, and they, along with God, will help you get through this horrible time.
