I will never forget SFC Robert Dunham. Outside of serving in the military together we spent many days playing music together at church and on other engagements. Rob played keyboard and I played the drums. This still hurts bro. Rest easy...

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Dunham Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Robert E. Dunham US Army Sergeant First Class. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

I met SFC Dunham near North Augusta, SC - he and my Brother in law SSG Doug Homrich had ridden together from Ft Riley to go home for the holidays prior to their deployment to Iraq where I picked Doug up. He clearly was a great teammate and willing to quite literally go out of his way to help a buddy.
We all miss you - vets and citizens alike. See you on the other side.

Always admired, forever remembered, and forever missed. His legacy will live forever with those who had the honor of serving with him under his command, and by his side. His actions always demonstrated the essence of the US Army core values. Like the Big Red One, no mission too difficult, no sacrifice to great, duty first! That was, and will always be SFC Robert Earl Dunham. Hoah!!!

To SFC Dunham's family: I still remember when I first reported to SFC Dunham's team as a fresh out of BCT/AIT Private First Class in 1997. He took me in like family. I fondly remember he bought me my first cold weather boots for the Fort Riley cold. They were really expensive and I didn't have quite enough. He always cared, he was always so kind. I could go on and on with examples of how great a person and Soldier he was to me and others. SFC Dunham will never be forgotten!!!

SFC Dunham was a friend and a musical mentor to me at Living Word of Christ Church in Junction City, Kansas. I will never forget the life lessons he shared with me about our Lord and His worship, and being a man of God. I remember how he would talk about he and Kim praying together in the mornings and covering each other. Kim, you are still covered in prayer by all of us that know and love you both. May God continue to bring His comfort and peace to you and the boys. We love you!

SFC Dunham, was my friend and mentor during my miliary career. We were stationed together at Ft. Riley KS. He was my team chief for two years. We shared countless hours working together and talking about love and life. I remember days in the desert at NTC, i have a pic of us two in our MOPP gear while we participated in exercises. I learned alot from this man, he truley made a difference in my life and he is missed dearly. I have no doubt he is in heaven with GOD. Love you bro! Sgt Trevino, Gerardo

SFC Dunham was a major influence both in my life and in my military career. We spent countless hours and days together while on funeral detail in Kansas. I remeber when he was promoted to SFC and he gave me all his old rank and told me I would need it soon. That moment really touched my life. Sfc Dunham made me a better person and it is because of him I decided to make the Military my career

Today is December 13th 2008. I am just finding out about the death of SFC Dunham. The news was told to me by a soldier that served with me at Ft. Riley Kansas from 94-2001. Rob was more than just a fellow soldier, he was my music pal! We've shared the music stage on many ocassions at church, Kansas State Gospel Choir and other places. I am hurting inside on the lost of such a great friend but God knows best. Rob I will miss you and I will always be thankful for you sharing that one special secret chord progression with me!

I'm proud to say Dunham was my friend. Even prouder to have served by his side in Iraq. I saw him just a few days before his final mission at FOB Union III. We talked for a few minutes and I was telling him how I was concerned about some upcoming missions. He reminded me to give my worries and concerns to God. Talking to him was like a shot in the arm. I was crushed when I heard the news about him and Shoe. Dunham was a great human being and a great American. I think of him and Shoe often. May God bless them both and their families and loved ones.

For those that attended as part of the DOT Family, last week this Great American was given high honor.
The 15th Sig Bde specifically gave tribute by Memorializing him in the Dedication of a Training Site. His wife spoke from the heart and was very strong in the loss of her husband SFC Robert E. Dunham. Im sure the five boys will remember the event forever as one year had past since his death in Iraq.
This Great American sacrificed his life for our Freedom.
This is just a reminder about the Dedication Ceremony In Memory of SFC Robert E. Dunham, Friday, the twenty-third of May, at three-thirty o’clock, FOB Patriot, corner of 19th Street and Lane. Fitting that it took place a year to the date of SFC Dunham being Killed in Action.

Robert, our friendship goes back over twenty years. I remember when you graduated from Mervo and when you first went in the Army in 1988. I never thought that I would be saying goodbye to you so soon. May God bless you for the tremendous service that you have given to this country, I pray for your wife and children that they will continue to be strong and grow in the Lord. I also pray for Chucky, Ms. Doris and the rest of your family. You paid the ultimate price to protect our freedom and I thank you, but most of the all I thank you for just simply being Robert.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Robert, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I think that this photo says a lot about the man who was Robert Dunham. The clear eyes, open face and wonderful smile made me want to read more than the profile on this site. I'm honored to sign his Memorial page today and I ask God's blessing on his wife, his children, his family and all those who knew him. For those of us not fortunate to know him in life, I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn more about this fine American soldier. Rest well Sgt. 1st Class Dunham - you were faithful unto death.

SFC Dunham.... I met you during my first assignment, a young soldier with a limited view of the Army life, and full of enthusiasm. You greeted that enthusiasm with open arms, even though I was in the NC section, you took time to mentor me and share your knowledge with me when you didn't have to do so. I have kept the memories of the entire NC section alive with me since my departure, and the memories of the times we shared as you kept a group of lively soldiers in line who all admired you and held you in high regards. I will forever be grateful for the the knowledge you bestowed upon me, and for the pleasure of knowing you.

Dear Mrs. Dunham
I don't know you, your husband, or anyone in your family. I sit daily and think about our soldiers fighting this war and one of my biggest concern is if they accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour. I am so proud of my brother in Christ because in reading all the messages he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. I especially like the message that said "brother Dunham didn't just live a saved life he was a good Christian. Sister Kim continue to praise God, I have read through so many of the guest books but this is the first time I've felt the urge to write. May God forever bless and keep you and your family is my prayer. As the daughter of a retired Sargent major and a vietnam vet I impart unto you God's richest blessing.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Sister Kim,
Brother Robert and I went to Junior High and High School together. Even after all of these years, the news of his passing was heart felt. Brother Robert,
It is with deepest sorrow to hear about your passing, but God have something bigger and better for you up in Heaven. The aches and pain, the stress and strain, the toll on your earthly body. You ran your race and you fought your fight, you completed your course and passes your test now it is time to rest. God smiled upon you and came down and hand picked one of His very best. You served you Lord, Family, and Country with a smile that would brighten up any day. Continue to be the best at what you do. SERVE, PROTECT AND GIVE GOD PRAISE.
Sister Kim,
The first time I went to RMI a little over a year ago I heard you sanging as your husband was playing and I said WOW a church can not ask for more they have two people that aids in bring in the HOLY SPIRIT. At the time I did not know you all was husband and wife, But I knew that I wanted to hear more from you all. I watch you from a distance at how strong you are and I always say I want to be just like that Sister. She is strong and filled with the Lord. To hear you sang and Brother Robert play would send chills rigth up my spine. After going to RMI for about a month I told my husband that I have found a church that I want the family to go to. It is filled with the Spirit. I told him the Pastor is always bring a word that hits right on point and they have a praise team that have a sister on there that can sang and a guy that can make the keyboard walk. So by the summer of last year my whole family was a member of RMI. As I had a chance to Watch you from a closer distance I knew you and your husband was the right people to set in the path of my family and myself. You have taught me how to be a better wife and mother with out you even knowing it. So with all your strenght and faith I know that you know that joy will come in the morning. If you need anything please feel free to ask and if I have it you know that it's already yours. Be strong in Christ and remember God will not leave you comfortless. When you miss your husband the most, thats when he is right there holding you even tighter.

Kim and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Bro. Dunham. I just found out today, and I was totally in shock. Kim, be strong, God will not put more on you than what you can bear. I will definitely miss Robert and I want you to know the influence he has been in my life. Robert gave me a book on Worship back in 2000 and it blessed my life. The way I worship God is different because he allowed God to use him to teach me how to get into the Presence of God. Kim you and your children are in my thoughts and prayers, and if you ever need anything, don't hesitate to contact me. I love you and God bless and keep you during your time of bereavement.

Robert to us was more than a friend. Robert to us was part of our family. He was a remarkable individual, an awesome man of God, always responsive, always sensitive to the Holy Spirit. We knew Robert as a faithful & loyal husband. We knew Robert as a caring & devoted father. He was a loving son, a dependable brother, and a true friend.

Robert directly touched our lives with his prophetic words of encouragement, with his creative wisdom & with his resourceful guidance. To be with Robert was to be with humbleness, was to be with humility, was to be with modesty. To be in the presence of my brother Robert was to be in the presence of tranquility, was to be in the presence of harmony, was to be in the presence of peace. To experience Robert was to experience joyfulness, was to experience cheerfulness, was to experience optimism.

Sister Kimberly, Robert will truthfully be missed and always remembered. Yes you are a strong woman, a strong woman of God and my prayer for you is that God maintain you strong, that our Lord continue to hold you up, that he keep his loving arms around you as you continue to bring up your children in the way of the Lord, as you continue to bring up your children to be an image that Robert their father was. Kimberly, our hearts, our arms & our doors are always opened whenever you or your children should need us.

Sister Kimberly, We want you to know that we have prayed fervently for you, for your children and for your family. We have prayed so that the Lord would give us words of wisdom & words of comfort for all who are hurting & mourning. Although we are hurting, we as Servants of the Lord understand that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Kimberly, we can find peace in knowing that Robert is now resting in the arms of our almighty God, knowing he is safe in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Knowing that he is alive, and now belongs to another army, a mighty army, the army of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, we are grateful to the Almighty God, to acknowledge that our life, our ministry, our family, & our congregation, Tabernáculo Restauración en Cristo, have been blessed because we were privileged to have known Robert.

Kim, you know that God is capable of providing you with the comfort that you need in this very difficult time. I am thankful that Cookie is there with you to provide you with the support that only a mother can provide in times like this. Remain prayerful and know that "God Is" and "God Can" and "God Will".

Kim and family,
Our prayers are always with you all.We have shared so many memories over the years.I can not find the words to express for your loss. I do know that the man up stairs do not make mistakes and everything happens for a reason. I know because I live with the loss of my dad every day that I'm blessed to be here. I also know that he will give you the strength to carry on. I'm a witness to that. Remember that "He never closes any doors". I love you and will keep your family in my prayers.

Dear Kim and Family,
Words cannot express the sorrow I felt when told that Robert was gone. My mind nor my heart can fathom how you feel. Know that everyday you cross my heart and I send up a prayer for our Father to hold you and touch that “spot” that only He can reach. For I know, there are no human words that can console you right now. Please glean a smidgen of comfort from knowing that you had the opportunity to love a godly man…a man after God’s own heart. How many of us can say that? Robert is loved by so many and still touches so many. I still remember his smile. I know we always will. Doug and the children send their prayers and love also. God's peace be with you and yours.

Praise the Lord Sister Kim and the Boys!!! I thank God for Brother Dunham, you and the Boys. Please give Nathan a special HELLO from Brother Williams. I thank God for allowing me to cross your paths; it was and is truly a blessing for me. I still have the emails Brother Dunham sent me while I've been over here in Korea; he had a unique way of encouraging me; I called it an ON TIME email. I am truly blessed to KNOW that Brother Dunham is with my FATHER (GOD) and my Lord and Saviour JESUS in Heaven; for I KNOW he was welcomed with OPEN ARMS. Brother Dunham has completed his course and that is the only reason that he beat me HOME. By being well missed is a GOOD SIGN of being a GOOD CHRISTIAN and NOT just living a SAVED life. Sister Kim; know that Robert is in the right place at the right time; for he is with his family in heaven now (Ephesians 3:15). Be blessed and stay blessed (empowered to prosper in every area of life).

GOD BLESS,
Brother Williams and Family (Augusta GA by Way of Korea)

To the family of SFC Robert Dunham, it is with deep regret that his life was cut so short; however his memory will live forever in many hearts. I had the pleasure of working with him and knew deep in my heart SFC Dunham was a soldier who would never turn down a mission for his country. His death was untimely; and he died as a Soldier serving his country. May he rest in peace and may his family understand the sacrifices’ that our Soldiers make every day.

Robert,

You are my hero. I wish I could tell you one last time how much you mean to the family. I wish I could hear those angelic chords you used to play on Grandma Doris's piano one more time. I wish you were able to make it to my wedding last autumn, so that I could tell you that I loved you.... one more time.

May you rest in peace, Cousin. Walk into your well deserved destiny. I'm sure God has reserved a special quarters in heaven just for you.

Kimberly,
It is so hard to believe that Rob is gone. He was a good friend to me and an awesome piano player. It was great just sitting an listening to him play. He will always have a special place in my heart. Kimberly, Rob introduced me to you when he came back from Korea at The First Church of God on 3rd street after bible study one wednesday night. I'm sorry I didn't really get a chance to know you, but I could tell you were a woman of God and my prayer for you is that God continue to hold you up as you raise your children in the way of the Lord, to be awesome men of God like their father was.

To my friend Robert. Its still so hard to believe that you're gone. I've learned so much from your ministry. I was looking forward to your return so we could continue exchanging ideas regarding music and family. Though you're gone now, I will continue the legacy that you started. That is to - practice my craft to the fullest, be sensitive to the Holy Spirit while ministering. I thank you for the times we've had. The many encouraging words we had with regards to our family dynamics. Many thanks! And to Kim, May God give you peace, and encouragement in this time of bereavement. I know you are a strong person and will bounce back. The Mirville family is here for you if you ever need us. We Love you!!
