Dustin Brisky Obituary
Dustin Ryan Brisky June 8, 1981 - June 14, 2007 Dustin, age 26, was taken to the Lord in a tragic military construction accident in Tallil, Iraq on June 14, 2007. Dustin was born June 8, 1981 in Austin, Texas at Seton Hospital. He lived most of his life in Austin, Dallas, or Kansas City and graduated in Austin from McNeil High School in 1999. Dustin joined the Army in June, 2004. He volunteered to go in October, 2006 to Iraq to serve with his fellow soldiers who were called. His courage and love will give all who knew him the strength to carry on until they meet him again in heaven. Dustin will be laid to rest next to his "Nanny" in a plot donated by his great aunt, Ernestine Ray. Dustin was preceded in death by: maternal grandmother, Josephine Moore, maternal grandfather, Jack Moore, paternal grandfather, Walter Brisky, paternal aunt, Theresa Mickus, step-great aunt, Violet Connaughton, and maternal great-grandfather, Louis Scotch. Dustin is survived by his mother and step-father Karen and Bob Baker of Olathe, Kansas; his brother Nicholas Baker of Olathe, Kansas; his father Bob Brisky of Dallas, Texas; maternal great-grandmother Irene Burks of Austin, Texas; paternal grandmother Florence Brisky of Brownsville, Texas; aunts and uncles: Karla and Joe Badarack of Frisco, TX, Kelly and Wayne Smith of Wagoner, OK, Marie and Curtis Gray of San Antonio, TX, Toni and Bill Vaclavik of Abilene, TX, Patti and Bill Brotherton of Landrum, SC, Philip and Lois Brisky of Austin, TX, Barbara and Charlie Barrera of San Antonio, TX, Linda and Al Perez of Brownsville, TX, Bill and Victoria Brisky of Brownsville, TX, and Mike and Judy Brisky of South Lake, TX; cousins: Amber Moore, Joey Badarack, Jordan Badarack, Brian Smith, Lisa Gray, Sharyn Bar, Rachel Castro, Rose Marie Bristaw, Kathy Olinde, Leah Porta-Lin, Emily Stolz, Lyndsey Brotherton, Kevin Brotherton, Christopher Brisky, Kyle Barrera, Ely Barrera, Skyler Reeves, Jacob Brisky, Joel Brisky, Brianna Brisky, and Jessie Theresa Brisky; Step-grandmother, Loraine Baker of Leawood, KS, step-uncle Gerald Baker of Overland Park, KS, step-aunt and uncle Ellen and Jeff Harrison and cousins Daniel and Michael Harrison of Spring, TX, step-grandfather Bob Baker Sr. of Grandview, MO, and many other family members, friends, and fellow U.S. soldiers. The Brisky family will receive friends and family members Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks funeral home in Pflugerville, Texas where a funeral service will be celebrated in his honor Friday, June 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas will full military honors.

I was with Brisky the day he went to Heaven. It's tough knowing you were the last 1 to see someone alive instead of his original family. Brisky and I was working together that day . I believe I was supposed to go with him that day but i guess we had different things God wanted us to do. Sorry Brisky I tried to get to u buddy . We both had a feeling about that day. He wasn't supposed to be on that loader that day. Brisky was cooler than a fan and I'm glad I had that chance to be in his life . You are with a loving God Brisky . See u soon. Brisky served with me in Iraq, although he was in first platoon and i was in the Maintenance platoon, we still worked close together. He was an amazing man, I remember when we heard the news, the whole world grew very cold. God Bless you Brisky, and your family.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I didn't make the connection when I first heard at Mass last weekend of Dustin's death. We both felt so bad for his family not even knowing it was someone I knew. When I saw you being interviewed on TV, I was taken aback and realized you were the family we had prayed for at that Mass. I know how you feel losing a "HERO", Becoming a "Gold Star" Mother myself on 25 March.. The sacrafice our sons and daughters are making on a daily basis should tell us all..These young HEROS knew full well what they were doing and did it proudly When you hug your little one tonight....
