Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of William Ryan Fritsche US Army Staff Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Almost ten years have passed since they took you from us. They didn't know that was impossible. our memories have kept you near and dear to us all. They thought by taking you we would no longer have your influence on our lives, not so. Your presence has always been felt and that has comforted all of us. God is good and because of his goodness we've been able to have you still. Still loving you, Grandma Bert.

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. A life that we will travel without you, however we thank God for the gift of remembrance that fills our hearts with joy. Remembering the little dutchy speech as you told me the creation story that Mommy had read to you the night before. Then the intelligent words of a young man you grew to be. The excitment we all felt in you sports adventures and then the commitment to God and Country. And the knowledge that you answered the call to help save us all. My love grows deeper each passing year until I can see you again. Love Grandma Bert.

Ryan,
I don't understand why God called you home so soon. Although we miss your dad I take some comfort knowing that he and your Grandma Fritsche were there to greet you on the other side.
Your mission here on earth may be through but I am confident you have been assigned a new mission(Guardian Angel to those you loved and were left behind)..They need you Ryan..The pain and grief of your loss was devastating and everlasting..My heart broke for my best friend(your mom), TJ, Brandi, your Grandma Bert, Grandpa Jay, Grandpa Fritsche & the rest of your family. You would be so proud of them Ryan. Their pain is immense but they have Honored your Memory and Sacrifice in so many ways and continue to do so every day..You were and always will be loved by so many..I am so thankful I was able to tell you that I loved you and was proud of you before you left for Afghanistan, never dreaming that would be the last time I ever seen you this side of heaven. One thing I didn't get to say was 'Thank You Ryan'..You were an AMAZING YOUNG MAN who touched my life in ways I will always cherish. I know you have a long list of people you're watching over but I hope you add me to the list.
I Honor Your Sacrifice As A Soldier..
I Love and Miss You because your Mom was gracious enough to share a piece of your life with me..To Know You Was To Love You..There is a song called "Heaven Is Wherever You Are"..I believe that with all my heart..
Hope to see you there.

Time does not heal all wounds. I had the privilege to serve with young Fritsche in his first duty assignment at the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). I was his Squad Leader, by choice. When Pvt. Fritsche was assigned to Bravo Company the leadership could tell that he had something special. He was bright, physically fit, handsome, and confident (in a quite kind of way). I was the lucky one that had the pick of the litter and swiped Pvt. Fritsche up immediately, and was not disappointed. You could tell that he came from small town mid America. He took pride in everything that he did and accomplished every task above the standard. He was placed in one of the most sought after jobs in The Old Guard as a member of the Full Honors Casket Team because of his qualities. And he did not disappoint. I deployed to the Horn of Africa with him and back then unfortunately lost contact due to me moving to another job. Word of SSG Fritsches death came as a total shock to all of us. I am currently stationed on a year tour in Afghanistan and think of SSG Fritsche often. I have not had the opportunity to visit the Forward Operating Base where he was assigned but I do check to see what activity is going on at Outpost (OP) Fritsche. I only hope that the Soldiers serving there know that that OP is named after not only a grate Soldier but one of the best human beings that I have ever known. Rest in Peace and know that you will never be forgotten.

I served in the Old Guard with William Fritsche. We were not close but, I was deeply saddened by the news of your loss. Though I'm sure you've likely become familiar with this quote. I wanted to leave you this in case you haven't. God Bless.
"I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours very sincerely and respectfully, Abraham Lincoln."

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ryan,
I can't believe that your gone. You will always be in mine and nee's heart. You were unbelievable guy. The way you treated Brandi, she could of not asked for a better husband. I know that your friends couldn't of asked for anyone better than you. Your mom raised a kind, loving, honorable and devoted son. You had all the kids loving you. I remember most of all Nee asking when are Brandi and Ryan coming to Sharon's house. You interacted and played with her and the others just as if they were your own.
I can't believe that you are gone. I feel like I lost another brother. I cry asking God "WHY" someone who put others before himself, he was young and he was starting his life. I know that you died doing what you wanted to do. I will hold your memories and being our hero close to my heart forever. I wish that you would of made it back, you sacrificed your life so that our country and my daughter could live each day feeling a little more safe. I honor and respect you as a friend and a solider. Thanks for everything you have done for our country. Also, thank you for the way that you were with Nee, she loves you so much and she will miss you. She asked Why you went to heaven and I told her that you were protecting us from bad guys. You will never be forgotten always in our hearts and memories.
Some gave all and all gave some!!!

There are simply no words to express the gratitude felt for what Staff Sgt. Fritsche gave for our nation and for our world. While the nation grieves for every loss, we know that your pain is deep and personal. My prayer is for his family and friends to find peace and comfort in the memories of your loved one, and joy in knowing he is, and forever will be, one of our nation's finest heroes.

I served with Bill for 3 years in the Old Guard. He was probably one of the nicest people that I have ever known. He will be missed.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

All of us at USO Delaware were deeply sadden to hear of William's death. We became great friends with him and the other members of TOG (The Old Guard), BRAVO Co as they brought home their fallen brothers & sisters into Dover AFB. He was always so friendly, gracious and very appreciative of our support for their solemn mission. He even took the time to send a thank you letter from Africa during his deployment there. Our deepest sympathy to his family & friends. You have earned your place in heaven, my friend and HERO....your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
