Obituary of Frederick Albert Fritsche
February 18, 1936 – October 20, 2025
Frederick Albert Fritsche, 89, a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in a farmhouse in Clinton on February 18, 1936, to the late Frederick H. and Louise (née Smith) Fritsche, Fred was raised with a strong work ethic and a deep respect for the land. Growing up in a farming family, he carried that proud tradition throughout his life. After graduating from North Hunterdon High School in 1954, he married his high school sweetheart Barbara Petersen. They had 5 children Tom, Geri, Bev, Sue and Rick. He continued working on the family dairy farm (Twin Pines) while building a successful hay business and running a small egg stand that served local families for many years.
Alongside farming, Fred devoted decades of service to the Union Township Road Department. His family fondly remembers countless winter nights when, right after dinner, he'd head out into the snow to plow the roads and make sure his neighbors could travel safely-an example of his quiet dedication and care for others.
In 1962, Fred divorced and married the love of his life, June (Rounsaville), at Clinton Baptist Church. Together they raised three children Gina, Pam and Michael. Fred and June shared 63 beautiful years of marriage marked by love, laughter, and the shared joy of raising their family.
In his younger years, Fred was an avid stock car racer at the old Flemington Race Track, proudly collecting trophies and friendships along the way. A true outdoorsman, he loved deer hunting, trapping, and raising minks for their fur, he bought deer hides for their fur as well and he was known to repurpose nearly anything with a creative hand and a trusty tractor. Those who knew him best remember a man who was happiest outdoors working the land, fixing something, or helping a neighbor in need.
At the end of every long day, Fred's greatest joy was gathering around the dinner table with his family, sharing stories and laughter. His life was built on love, hard work, and the simple satisfaction of a job well done.
Fred will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, June Fritsche; their children, Gina Hill, Pam Fritsche, and Michael Fritsche, along with Tom Fritsche, Geri Stabile, Bev Lamberson, Sue Nemecek, and Rick Fritsche, his many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick H. and Louise Fritsche.
He is survived by his sister Pat Fritsche.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809. A prayer service will follow at the funeral home. Frederick will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingwood Township.

Fred was a true blue Farmer to the very end. Every Day He would accomplish a mission. Being in a wheelchair was not a deterrent in doing a chore. I will always
admire Him for always being busy & talking to Fred
