I never had the honor of meeting you personally but I knew you through your Mom, Ms Shirra. Oh she loved her babies. I honor your sacrifice all the time as I too came from a military family . I think of you often young man, especially your family. Your mom gave me a rose that I still have to this day. You are honored and remembered.

SPC Franklin. I will never forget us talking about you becoming an officer and what steps you needed to take to get there. I know you would have been an outstanding leader. It´s been 15 years and our conversation stays on my mind. Losing you really hurt me personally. But I know you are a leader in Heaven.

Sir... I hope you've met up with my brother up there. He always talked about you through the years. I came across your page by accident really searching for an old teacher. You were so respectful, gentle, and kind. Unbelievable that its been 16 years... Your smile and presence was something I remember and my brother often talked about how unfair it was that all the good hearted, genuine people seem to leave first. Remembering you today and hoping your enjoying it up there with Dakota. Much love to you and your family.

Continuing to rembember the kind human spirit that was, Jermaine. I had the most wonderful pleasure of being able to spend my elementary years at Maxie Speer with him. I can clearly picture how he used to do the moon walk and MJ dance moves as we walked down the hallways, and of course wearing his most distinctful accessory..... his huge smile! Our 6th grade teacher, Mr. Tapia would always crack his half grin and say, " J! you do that moon walk thing pretty good!!!" and how it made J smile.. it was great. I also remember how he used to share his proudness of his father, the police officer, whom everyone in class knew, mainly because if you happened to be looking at Jermaine and he didn't know you were watching and his father happen to drop by Speer and peek into the classroom thru the long narrow class door window...... Jermaine would radiate from complete joy at spotting the window peeking face. Jermaine lives in my greatest memories of all time as the most genuine kind heart I've ever gotten the pleasure to know. When you meet and grow around an infectiousable loving person as he, it impacts the course of your life from there until forever.
In Loving Memory of an old friend of mine, Jermaine Franklin.

Frank,
You gave your life for mine. I can never repay the debt. You died where I should have. Your platoon volunteered an extra day at Dima Castle, and for that you died, and I'm here. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I married a beautiful woman, my high school crush. You should see her, she's so wonderful and she thanks God for you, and comforts me when I break down and cry in the middle of the night, like tonight, remembering your sacrifice. I have a daughter now, the most beautiful little girl you could imagine, and she owes you her life too. She's too young to understand, but I tell her about you sometimes, and what a brave man you were, and kind. I owe you all of this, and it eats away at me. Here's a picture of her, just so you can see what it is you gave me. I will always remember you. Thank you. I'm so sorry. It wasn't fair.

I love and miss you so much Bubba. I know you are watching down on me and the family, but I wish you were here to help me through life. I just cant help but to think back to when we would sit in the room while you played Zelda or watched DragonBallZ. I would sit on the bed and you would tell me to sing. I was never too shy to sing in front of you because I knew my Bubba loved my singing. And while you did pushups, you would make me sit on your back and later tell me how big I was starting to get. lol. I miss those times. Especially, staying up late and you laughing at me because we knew if Mama caught us that I would get into alot of trouble. I can't wait to see you again. I know you are in God's hands and there is no greater love than His. I love you Bubba!!!! I could only imagine the beautiful wings God has given you. I will sing forever because that is what you asked of me.

To the Franklin and Daniels Family, I know it seems like the pain never goes away, I know that its still hard. Feel Blessed in knowing that Jermaine was a good child. He died doing something with his life....Never did anything out of the norm. Just being a teenager as all of us has been. Love making people laugh. He was a wonderful child. Always willing to help others in any way he could. He was a very protecting young man most of his family -Dwight,Yolanda, Shirra Nisha,Quishia,Justin, Sha as he'd say lil baby Tutu. He loved you all. Never seen a guy who stood up for his family the way he did. Tried to please so many. Did his best to be there for his step- Mother hold down the house while his dad was in Iraq. Well, Jermaine I can say so many things about you. But most of WE MISS YOU and LOVE YOU... R.I.P. Lil Brother

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jermaine, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Not sure where to begin. Jermaine has been a friend of mine since the beginning of my walk as a soldier. From the times that we caught eyes with each other in basic to the intense screams that we roared in combat. He has taught a lot about myself; the good and the bad, and he surely will be missed. To God be the glory for all of his benefits to you!! He has given us Spc Franklin and the benefit of knowing that he was a young man of character and determination to serve his country with the ultimate price, his life and for that I will say thank you family and I will keep you all before the Lord.
