Bollinger Funeral Goods & Services - BrunswickDavid Glenn Franklin, age 69, passed away on February 22, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.
David was born on October 20, 1956, to James and Teresa Franklin. He was the second oldest of eleven children. A hard worker from an early age, David helped pay his way through Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, Ohio. He went on to attend Case Western Reserve University, where he earned a BA in Psychology. It was at Case that he cultivated a lifelong passion for learning, particularly in history and horticulture.
After college, David entered the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Major. He was in the 82nd Airborne Fort Bragg, spent eight years stationed in Germany, five years at the Pentagon, and served in Operation Desert Storm. He was extremely proud of his 20-year military career and his service to his country.
Following his active-duty service, David spent an additional seven years working for the Department of Defense as a contractor overseas in Kabul Afghanistan, and throughout Africa, including the Congo, Burundi, Togo, Tanzania, and Rwanda. It was one of the greatest honors of his life.
David met and dated his wife Michele when they were in high school. They remained friends throughout their adulthood and reconnected later in life. David and Michele married on July 11, 2003, and were married for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife, Michele; four brothers: Wayne (Nancy), Kyle (Kathy), Tracy, and Lorne (Jennifer); three sisters: Joy Bruner (Richard), Robin, and Kimberly Furlong (Patrick); as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by three brothers: Leslie, Dean, and Kerry (Karen).
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
David will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on March 16, 2026 at 12:45 pm with Military Honors.
