Thomas Murry Byrd died on January 15, 2026. He was 83 years old. Born in Walnut Mississippi the family also lived in Memphis Tennessee. After graduation he followed the work up to Ohio. There he hired in at the Lorain Ford Motor Company, where he remained for 30 yrs until his retirement. In his younger days he enjoyed dirt bikes, races and all kinds sports. His children were active in Lorain county 4h horse program where he loved being able camp at the county fair every year. Upon his retirement, he owned and operated The Lazy J Ranch doing trail rides, girls scouts, breeding and showing horses. He worked hard to make the best annual Halloween parties. To fill in the time in his later days, he drove truck to see many places all over the country. Always wanting adventures, he chauffeured his family around, traveling to AMHR/ASPC Horse shows where he got to met and enjoy so many friends. The thing he loved most though was simply spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Sheila (née Tomatz); daughter, Tammy(Steve); son, Tommy; son, Kenny(Heidi); daughter, Crystal(Tom); bonus son, Billy Alten(Hayley); brother, Jack; grandchildren, Brittany(Hunter), Bailey(Misha), Natalie(Joe), Allyson, Curtis(Lisa), and Craig(Mary); great grandchildren, Peyton, Dawson, and Forrest; and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Thomas Byrd; his mother, Virgie(née Mohundro); his father. Roy Byrd; and his brother, Joe Byrd.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
