Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Paton Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Words cannot describe how much smaller the world seems without you here. Somtimes I wake up at night and swear that we were back in Iraq and just talking and hanging out. I will never forget you. To the family of Justin, I am naming my first born sun after him in his honor. God bless

Taramia Carroll

August 27, 2008

I never meet you son. And after I read the wonderful things that everyone who knew him said about him I wish I had. It seems you raised a wonderful child who knew Jesus. I learned of your loss while I was doing some research trying to find the meaning for my name (which is Taramia). I felt I must share with you the meaning of the name of place where you son meet God. Taramia I found comes from the two names Tara (Meaning “star” in Sanskrit or "elevated place" in Gaelic) and Mia (Most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".) I thought of your Justin going to meet his Father from that elevated place of love. He was in an elevated place of love not only because of where he was standing and where his heart was "connected to the Holy Spirit" who is the highest expression of love. And in that moment he became even more and I pray remains elevated even now. Then my thoughts turned to you waiting patiently for the day you will meet him again with the Father and rejoice for eternity. It may seem as if it is along time to wait without Justin but, when we all wake in Glory it will seem like a moment. I encourage to remember this and to understand that God is God. His plan is only for him to understand. We must only accept that God is God and he has a plan for us. I pray that you blessed and elevated by God as you elevate him in your life.

Mr and Mrs Paton, If I could take the pain and grief from you I would do it in a second, but we all know that is not possible. While I have not lost a relative in the fighting, being a member of the Patriot Guard, I have attended to many funerals for our heroes. It will be my honor to attend the LTBF memorial for the heroes and especially for Justin. Being a retired 1SG, I know the pain, from this standpoint, of losing soldiers. My sympathies and prayers are with you and your family. Justin waits for you just beyond the rainbow.

Love Lives On

Those we love remain with us
for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade
because a loved one's gone.
Those we love can never be
more than a thought apart,
far as long as there is memory,
they'll live on in the heart.

The Landstuhl Hospital Care Project has honored PFC. Paton with shipments of care and comfort items to wounded troops in military hospitals stateside and overseas including CSH and field medical units. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

It is with great sorrow that I sign another Guest Book of a fallen soldier of 1st Cavalry Division. Please accept our prayers and sympathies during these hard times. Justin stands as a hero in the finest traditions of the United States Army. We too have lost a soldier. On January 22, 2007 we lost our son-in-law Spec. Nicholas Brown in Mosul, Iraq. April 24, 2007

Thank you to everyone who has signed this guest book and passed on thoughts of kindness and sympathy. Our Justin is a hero as so many young men and women are simply for taking up the task of doing what they feel is right and following it through wherever it takes them. I take comfort in knowing Justin believed in what he was doing and knew he was making a difference for the people he encountered in Iraq. He told us he understood and had empathy for the military personnel who wanted to come home. He was one of them, but knew he had to stay because what he we doing made a difference. Justin made his decision and accepted the risks associated with it and moved forward. He wasn't a boy anymore but a fine young man of whom we are all very proud. I truly believe that God had a greater purpose for Justin and that he merely had to pass the tests before him. May God bless all of our military personnel wherever they are, especially Sgt Holmes and Sgt Heron who came into our lives at the most difficult time one could face. To all our soldiers out there, especially those in Justin's unit--if you feel that hand on your shoulder or a calm in your heart--know its our "Gentle Giant" watching over you.

God Bless

Justin's post on anysoldier.com allowed me the privledge of being able to send a package and letters to him, as well as exchange emails. Justin was concerned about his fellow soldiers who don't receive mail and was interested in brightening their days. That told me a lot about his character - He was truly a hero! I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I had the pleasure of knowing Justin, as he was my cousin. He was more than 10 years younger than me, so my memories are those of a chubby little boy coming to our Grandma's house looking for a cookie and someone to play with. He was our youngest cousin, and always had a smile on his face. I just recently got to know him as an adult, and was delighted to know that his kind, gentle nature had not changed with his military training. He was sweet, respectful and cared about people, children especially. His funeral is planned for Monday the 26th of February in Michigan. Pray for his mom and dad, brother and sister. They are heart broken. He was brave and sincere in his task right 'till the end. Justin, you will be missed.

February 20, 2007

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
