We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in her name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Casey L. Casanova US Marine Lance Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.

I am remembering Casey as a fellow Marine and as fellow HS student. Casey and I went to school together at Bass Memorial Academy. We actually were in boot camp together at Paris Island, SC. I had no idea she was joining the Marines then I ran in to her at the Seventh Day Adventist worship service at boot camp. That was one of the only things that put a smile on my face when at boot camp. I served in Iraq just a few months after she did, and found out about her after I got back. I will be sharing her story with my children this Memorial Day. God Bless you Casanova Family.

Patriot Guard Rider, Richard St. Romain here. The funeral for U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Casey Casanova was my 9th PGR mission. of the 246 missions I've attended, over 14 years. Be sure, it is the MOST emotional, largest attendance, most Patriotic, most painful Patriot Guard Riders funeral I have ever attended. When talking to friends, strangers about PGR riders, Casey is the first example I bring up and explain why the PGR attend our military hero's ceremonies: to protect and support the family and pay respect to our American Hero! I know all the love, condolences and support so many have expressed to the parents, friends, relatives & fellow Marines cannot reduce their pain and loss, But please consider that so many of us want to share your pain, because, Casey Casanova's death is a real and painful lost to ALL AMERICANS! The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Belated condolences to Paula, Craig, Kitty, John and the rest of the family.

Thinking of you today Casey on the day you came into the world and blessed it with your presence. I've never written in your book because the words are hard to express, but today is your day and you should be honored. I think about you almost daily, even after all these years. I make your sweet potato dish and tell everyone you taught me how. I remember the days and holidays you spent with our family. I think about that last weekend I saw you. We had such a good time didn't we. You taught me the cupid shuffle, which I now dance every time I hear the song in honor and memory of you. I was so blessed to have been able to spend that last night with you, talking, alone together over coffee at Denny's while we waited for your flight time. I will never let anyone forget you and the sacrifice you made for us all with your life. Thank you for being my friend, for allowing me to be your Nanni, and for loving me so unconditionally. Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice, your time, and your love. I miss you every day Casey, but I know, one day I will see you again. Happy birthday Casey Lynn. Gone, but never forgotten !

Your on my mind today so much. I miss you to the point that it's hurts my heart so deep. I think of so many things that we lived through together in your short life and can't understand why you are gone and I am here. Your were chosen to represent Mississippi in a military museum and I have been so proud and sad at the same time, of course you are continuing to make a large and loving legacy for yourself and Me, Gammy and Pups and America as well. I am so thankful everyday that Jesus allowed me to be your mother it just wasn't enough time. I now and always wait patiently to be with you again. Jesus has been so good and merciful on us all. Casey... sometimes I just can't believe how long it's been that I haven't seen you, talked to you, danced with you, or hugged you. I can remember those days like they were yesterday. So much has happened for me, and for everyone, since you left us. I wish you could be here for all of it. I know you're in heaven watching over, and you're with me everywhere I go. I would give anything to see you again here, but I know one day I will in heaven. I missed you so much at my wedding. You don't know how much I wanted you to be there standing up with me. I know you didn't know her, but Stacey gave a beautiful toast to you and reminded everyone of your sacrifice and our friendship. I love you always, Casey. I'm still dancing for you. And even though I'm 1,000 miles from where it all started, I still think of you every time I'm on the floor...and all the other moments in between. I love you my dear best friend. Its been over 3 years since the dreadful day that you left us Casey. I saw you the night before you left and I kissed you on the cheek and told you that I loved you because you had always been a great friend and someone close enough to me to consider a member of my own family. I will never forget the early morning hour that I found out it was you. It was the hardest 5 months of my life after that. You were always the light of a room even when you were mad at us guys for picking on you, but you knew we were always there to take up for you. Thinking of your service and sacrifice. I did not know you or your family, but I read about you and saw a photo of you on graduation day. April 21, 2006 you graduated and my husband was in Iraq celebrating what would be his last birthday. He was killed in action July 17, 2006. He was an amazing soldier and Bomb Tech. When I saw the photo of your beloved daughter on Apr 21 I think of how none of us knew what was in store for us as the months and years would go on. There was happiness in your daughters eyes, honor and you could see her pride and love for country... Thank you for all your sacrifices. I wish peace for your family and hope that the memories you've made with Casey will forever carry you through your life and bring a smile to your face and a happy tear to your eye and love to your heart... she will not be forgotten and the memories and photos you share of her will always keep her alive...

Our precious Casey is not with us at Christmas time anymore.I have been thinking about her a lot lately. She would have been comeing home for Christmas. She loved this time of the year. She always looked foward to being with both her familys. On Christmas eve she always looked foward to a party at Aunt Gails in New Orleans. Then after that she would look foward to being in Mc Comb with the rest of her family. We no longer can enjoy thoes times with her. She would have been getting out of the Marines in January. But that wont happen now. I cant even began to express how much we miss her. The hurt never goes away. We pray that everyone will remember Casey and all the Heros as well as the rest of the armed forces and their families not only at the Christmas season but all year long. Remember freedom isn't free. The price comes very high for some of us. Looking foward to seeing Casey again. WE WILL NEVER FORGET (GAMMIE)

Today everyone is talking about 9/11. As I sit here thinking about that horrible day I think about our precious Casey. Casey didn't die that day but because of that day she died in Iraq seven years later defending our country because of what happened that day. It still seems like this couldn't have happened to our Casey. She was so precious to us and so loved by our family. We miss Casey so much and our hearts are so broken. Our prayers are for the ones that are still out there in harms way still fighting this war. Thank you all for our freedom and we will never forget. RIP Casey. We love and miss you so much.

Days like this, you wonder! You remember the people that were beside you, inspired you, were motivated by you. Today, personally I am trying to celebrate Independence day, and one thing crosses my mind is Ms Casanova and the three other Marines who were on that convoy for B-1. Some how still I am in disbelief.... maybe I will never wake to this shock. One thing though, stikes me is if not you~ then who! We as a Marines know Freedom is not free... there is a price. On a day like today, dear CASEY, please know I think about you, care, and am blessed by you. Please rest in peace, miss you dearly, and from one Marine to you...(always a Marine) Semper Fidelis!
