Ann Casanova Obituary

Ann Casanova
October 20, 1931 - November 30, 2025
Ann Reed Olson Casanova, age 94, of Branford, passed away peacefully at home on November 30.
Ann is survived by her husband of 75 years, James Casanova of Branford, sons, James E. Casanova (Robbie Butler) of Charlottsville, VA, Gerald Casanova of Branford, David Casanova (Randee) of East Hampton, CT, and daughter Lisa Morrison (John) of Waxhaw, NC, along with grandchildren Nicole Bristow (Charlotte, NC), Samantha Lambiase Crawford (Michael) Candler, NC, and Christian Casanova (Brooklyn, NY). Ann is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Lucas and Amelia Bristow, and Isabella Crawford, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
Ann is predeceased by her parents, Ernest Olson and Marion Reed Olson, and brothers Philip Olson (Nancy) and Ernest Olson (Peggy).
A lifelong resident of Branford, Ann often remarked on the wonderful life she's lived on Connecticut's shoreline. She grew up in Indian Neck, half a block from the beach, surrounded by loving relatives, many of whom lived nearby. Especially memorable were her teen years when summers with her mother and brothers were spent on Block Island, RI, helping at the Vail Hotel owned by her uncle Louis Ritzinger.
Following graduation from Branford High School Ann earned a degree in accounting from the Stone School of Business. Like many progressive women of the '70s, she found satisfaction juggling home, children, marriage, and a busy career as a bookkeeper with longstanding clients.
Ann especially enjoyed time with family and friends, entertaining, travel, and leading a healthy lifestyle. She was a Lifetime Weight Watchers member who stayed current on medical and nutrition news, and was a charter member of the Soundview Family YMCA, where she participated in aquatic fitness well into her 80s.
At home she was an ardent UCONN Women's Basketball fan, an avid cruciverbalist (solver of crossword puzzles), and a regular viewer of TV's Young & the Restless, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Church of St. John Bosco Parish, 105 Leetes Island Rd, Branford, followed by her Committal at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
