Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Seabrooks Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

I was cleaning out my desk, preparing to move to my new office when I came across a copy of the article announcing Drew's passing. When he worked with Carlos & my ex-Jim in the Brooklyn shop I used to see him in that white VW everyday. I would hang out & wait for the guys to get done their work for the day & we would always joke around. I remembered how on 9/11 Jim came home to tell me that as soon as they heard the news, Drew jumped in his car & said "I gotta go... my uniform's already in my car..." He didn't hesitate to protect the rest of us. It is my hope that these messages help to bring his kids some peace, to help them remember their dad, to help them know that there father was a hero & that he loved each & every one of you very much!

To the family of SGT Andrew Seabrooks,
Thank you for his service to our country. I command the advisors stationed at Forward Operating Base Walton and walk past the memorial to SGT Seabrooks every morning. His example and heroism serves as our inspiration and commits us to accomplish our mission to the fullest of our abilities. You should be confident that the Afghan National Security Forces are well-trained and in-the-lead, due, in no small part, to Drew's service.

I was searching the St. Pius V School site on Classmates and I saw Andrew's name. I was his first grade teacher and he was quite a handful! While my heart breaks to know that Andrew is gone, I am so proud of his legacy. When he was in my class I thought the best way to connect with him was to get to know him. So, I invited him to come to my house for dinner and spend the night. Well, he was the talk of the class the next day when he told all the other kids that he had been to my house. He even recited the menu -- pork chops, spinach, mashed potatoes and ice cream. After that day Andrew was almost an angel. As I recall, his grandmother was caring for him bacl then. She was so thrilled with all his accomplishments. As teachers, we don't always know how "our children" grow up. Now I know. My heart goes out to the Seabrooks family, yet, at the same time it swells with pride that he served his country with such strength. God bless you Andrew.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Andrew, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Well…where do I begin? My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Andrew Seabrooks. Please know that during your time in and out of bereavement you are constantly in my prayers. I didn’t even know that I knew Andrew through my best friend and Vietnam Veteran (Blak) Willey Jenkins. I have hung out with Andrew, I have laughed and joked with Andrew, and I might have even been beaten in the game of handball by Andrew and didn’t even know it. But one thing I do know when I was lost in Brooklyn one day trying to find UPS he gave me accurate directions and next thing I was there online waiting online to pick up my package. My point is Andrew was always there for you.
Another distant encounter. Everyday I take the Q9 bus home and that bus route always stops at Lincoln Park. Well on a normal Friday evening, my usual route home I was urged to get off the bus and play handball. I had a ball, sneakers and a skirt on but for some reason I did not want to go home and change. I just had this urged to play. A gentleman came up with his daughter and asked if I wanted to play handball in remembrance. I said yes, just what I wanted to do after work play some handball. The ball went over to the other side of the wall and I went to get the ball. On the other side of the wall was a humungous 7’ x 7’ silkscreen image of Sgt. Andrew Seabrooks hung on the handball wall. Below were unlit candles, roses, cards, notes, empty bottles of various top shelf liquors. I was a little intimidated to fully observe the picture in detail. Not knowing what was on the other side that when I did see the picture I felted I was interrupting something. For all those sentiments to be there I knew this person had to have been a very very important person in many peoples lives. The message on the court was very clear. But I did say I know him from somewhere and then I went back to play handball. Now Saturday rolls around and once again I return to the park to play some more hand ball. I was unaware that Lincoln Park was holding a memorial service for Sgt. Andrew Seabrooks (Sat., July 26, 2008) There were prayer vigils, special remarks, tears, laughter, and a silent walk around the park in remembrance of Andrew. Food was cooked, prepared and served in the park in his remembrance. I recognized a good portion of the people in the park wearing shirts, which said WE MISS YOU in bold letters. The dj played and captured the feelings and times of the 80’s movement, which let me, know this had to have been a favorite point in time for Andrew. Many elderly legends of the park came out to play various sports in remembrance of Andrew, especially hand ball, I was one of them to have the privilege to play with these legends. I lost every game to these tournament professionals but we all had great laughter, they allowed me to play with them, because the park was remembering the spirit and character of Andrew. I was thrilled to be apart of the condolences and remembrance of Sgt./Father/Brother and Friend Andrew Seabrooks.
WE WILL MISS YOU!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

With the deepest regret, I have just learned of the death of Sergeant Seabrooks. As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, (Col.) Robert Towns and the more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. This precious life, lived and lost in love of America, epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… the family of one of America's best ...!!!

I did not know this man, but I mourn his loss. As an American, I mourn the loss of this brave young man who answered his country's call.
The words "No greater love has any man than to lay down his life for his brother" are of little comfort at a time like this, but know he and you are in my prayers.

Damn!!! Andy is not with us in his earthy shell!! I cannot begin to phantom this loss!! My brothers, Eric and Errol (Yum) and I have known Andy for years, playing handball in Lincoln Park, swinging by the house chatting with them in his Jetta, just hanging out, cracking jokes and just having fun. We all remember when Andy first went into the service and when he came home, unscathed. I remember when his son was born; we were all happy for him. We are so sorry for this loss and my heart goes out to his wife and family. We all are going to miss Andy because he is a man, a friend, a great handball player that you will always remember and never forget. When I heard the news from my parents that Andrew was killed, I didn’t put two and two together because we knew him as Andy and once my brothers and I found out it was Andy, we are all devastated. WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU!!! I know that God called you home and you are in a better place and we will have fond memories of you playing handball in Lincoln Park that will live in our hearts forever and ever!!!

My prayers go out to the Seabrooks family. I remember Andrew when we where with the 258 Field Artillery in Bklyn. He was always happy and never let anything bother him. I remember his white vw, he was always working on it and wanted to hook it up LOL. To his children your Daddy is a good man and he loved you so much, walk with your heads up high because that was the way he walked. He will be missed. God bless you my brother.

To the Seabrooks family,
I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Andrews' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.
...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

To the family and parents of Andrew I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT Andrew Seabrooks our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Andrew. And to Andrew it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the U.S. Army and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Andrew, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,385 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Andrew’s family and loved ones.
