Not a day goes by that I think about the way life used to be. Not a day goes by that I do not think about your Dad and the loss of his only son. Not a day goes by that I do not think of the tribute that our hometown provided for the Rangers and the ultimate sacrifice you gave to our country. Not a day goes by that there is not a tug on the heart for the loss of you not being in our family's life. You are sooo missed!

Dear Pam,
There are such beautiful tributes on these pages for Patrick...how touching and how healing! I know your tears flow as you read the words of so many people. Tears of pride...and tears of a deep aching loss only a Mother can understand. Each picture I look of him smiling is how I remember his smile when he was growing up. I am so honored to have known him since he was a little boy. Pam, you were always there for me during my loss and I will ALWAYS be here for you! I love you!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

To The Rudd Family: I am so deeply saddened by Patrick's death. I am, however, tremendously proud of Patrick and all of our military men and women. I briefly knew Patrick when he was a little boy. From my military family to yours, please accept my heart-felt gratitude for Patrick's service and his sacrifice. Pam and Mary Elizabeth, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I will never meet your son and probably never meet you. But, my heart aches for your loss. My prayers flow freely. A relative of a co-ranger of Rickey's ask me to pray for your family and gave me a very brief description of what happened. I have kept you in my prayers and read the news articles for details. I will forever be indebted for the freedom your son and others has given to me and all Americans. We take our priledges so lightly. Every evening when I feed my horse or saddle him I will think of Rickey and other Rangers/soldiers and pray to God for your family and the many blessings these men have fought for in this war. God bless each you.

Dear Rudd Family,
Our son was there, too, and one of William’s many friends. I don’t have enough words to truly express the dept of sorrow I feel for your loss. From the stories our son and daughter-in-law have told us, William was a true friend, respected, and loved by many.
Just by being himself, he touched so many lives. More than you, or he, could probably imagine, and each one was made better because of it. In the days and years to come, I hope you find some comfort in remembering that your son made a difference in this world for the good; not just because of that one day, but more importantly, because of every day he gave us before that. Though we are not there with you, we are holding you in our hearts.

Dear Rudd Family,
Patrick and myself spent a few years together when he lived across the street from me in Russellville KY. We grew really close. Hearing the stories from his Ranger Brothers today made me realize that he hadn't changed. He is the same ol Patrick I knew. You couldn't go any where with the guy!!!! He was always cutting up about something. If anyone know's Patrick they know that he loved horses. Every afternoon after school we would saddle up his horse Dan the Man. We would ride to a spot up on the hill. There we would set there and talk about what we were going to do with our lifes. As usual the converstion ended up on buying a farm together and raising show horses. Every evening that we sat upon that hill; our converstion was ended by watching the sun setting in the west. Patrick I will miss you greatly and treasure all the times we had together. I am so sorry that we lost touch with one another. You will never be forgotten!!!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!!! Pull that cowboy hat down. Close those duster flaps and ride on to the gates of Heaven!!!

I can't even find the words...I lost my 19 year old son--5 Sept 2007, Balad, Iraq. I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? ABSOLUTELY not. He is in the arms of our Lord--"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" ~Rev 21:4
What a wonderful thought...
May God bless Sgt William P. Rudd, God bless you and your family and God bless America!

To the family and parents of William I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

To the Rudd Family,Words cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss.When my husband and I lived in Madisonville, Patrick would often share rides to work at White Hydraulics with Jeff and some of the other guys that worked there. Patrick was such a sweet and funny guy and he became a family friend. He and my daughter,Jessica, were the same age. My jessy also joined at age 18 and was overseas . As a Mother of 3 Daughters,I could not have ever prepared myself for having my baby girl fighting in a war. It was the most devastating time of my life ,I never knew how long a week ,a day or even a minute could be.I still have family over there and my Son-in-Law that will probably go soon for his second time.I want you to know that my heart goes out to you and I know how proud you must be. Patrick was a wonderful guy and I am so honored to have known him even for a little while.He gave his life for me and mine and I will always honor him and be forever grateful for the sacrifices he made for this country that we all call home. Patrick will always be my Hero! My Favorite : TO LIVE HEROICALLY IS ITS OWN COMPENSATION IN WHICH ALL CAN SHARE. IN EVERY PERSON THERE IS A SLUMBERING HERO.

To Patrick's family,

My deepest sympathy goes out to you. It has been so long since I had seen Patrick, but memories will last forever. He was like family to our family for many years when I was a child. Mom would say that where Travis went so did Patrick. Our family will miss him deeply.
Everyone goes through the days living their lives, and laughing, not realizing that every moment we are able to do so, is do to the soliders fighting and risking it all, so that we are able to live and laugh. I am grateful for him and everyone else who risk it all so that I can!
May God be with you in this time of dispare.
