Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also to let the Dryden Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Annie, I dont really know what to say. Its been almost a year since I wrote to you. Not a day goes by I dont think about you and wish you were still here... Things have really been taking their toll on me recently and my symptoms have been worse than before. I cant get stuff out of my head. Its like all the thoughts and memories have taken control of me. Some stuff happened on a mission after you left us, and we lost some civilians including children... Losing you and other friends and those kids haunts me. Every thought, every time I close my eyes, every dream I have, I see you all... Im still seeing the doc and doing therapy and all that, and trying to let go, but I cant seem to. Or maybe I dont want to, because its all I have left. I dont know, I just thought talking to you might help. Anyway, I miss you Marine, Semper Fi

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

my heart is broken in a million pieces thinking of you everyday, going through the loss of our precious annie. I loved her the day she was born and will love her forever. November 20, 2008

The soldier stood and faced his God
which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you soldier. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns, can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent
because the streets are awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
when the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times
I shook with fear
And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears

I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here
They never wanted me around, except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand
I never expected or had too much,
but if you don't I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne,
where the saint's had often trod
As the soldier waited quietly, for the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now you soldier, you've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's street,
you've done your time in Hell."

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

October 29, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Stacy, god bless you soldier and thank you for your service to a grateful nation, forever we will mourn you and those fallen service members both before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was KIA in Iraq while on a routine patrol. My promise to him was that I would never forget him but also those fallen before and after him. When I made that promise to him the day we laid him to his final resting place I did not realize how often I would need to make entries on Legacy and it just breaks my heart knowing that so many other families have and will continue to feel the pain that our family has endured. I taught both Annie and Jake at Taft Middle School, I hope the Good Lord keeps your family in his arms, You find special children when you teach and both Jake and Annie were good students and I have been blessed by their part in my life. Annie often visited Jessie Grasse who lives across the street from my house. I got to know her even more when they would be out in the yard playing. May God Bless her for protecting our country. She was a brave young lady and I will pray for her and her friend Jessie who also is protecting us. May you always remeber the laughter and love she has given to ALL who had the pleasure of her presence.

Stacy and my son Eric went to school together and remained friends. He had last heard from her right before she went to Iraq. I extend our deepest sympathies to your family during this difficult time of loss. I pray for God's peace that passes understanding as you move on without Stacy. May you always feel her spirit near.

To Thea ,the Dryden family & the Glover Family

We are so sorry for your loss, We did not know Annie(Jeffrey went to school with Stacy) but as a mother of a US MARINE Sgt. Jeffrey Nasteff who served a year in Iraq words can not express the pain we feel,the nights we cry and the longing for the moment we hear there voices, as our children are miles away serving this country to keep us save. God bless Annie and many thanks to all she has done for our country. Thea I am so sadden for your loss, we have not seen each other since back in our school days, I am sorry that we have to meet again under these circumstances.

A MARINE'S FINAL INSPECTION:
A Marine stood and faced God,which must always come to pass. She hoped her shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as brass.

"Step forward now, marine, how shall
I deal with you? Have you always
turned the other cheek. To my church have you been true?"

The Marine squared her shoulders and said, "No lord, I quess I ain't,because those of us who carry guns,cant always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was tough, and sometimes I've been violent because
the world is awfully rough.

But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills had gotten steep.

I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with fear, and sometimes,God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here, they never wanted me around, except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord it need'nt be so grand, I never expected or had to much, but if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne, where the saints had often trod, as the Marine waited quietly for the judgement of his GOD.

"Step forward now Marine, you've borne your burdens well, walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, you've done your time in Hell."

Semper Fi...God Bless
Sue, Yasmina and Sgt. Jeffrey Nasteff (U.S.M.C.)
