Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Timothy H. Walker US Army Staff Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

I think about you all the time. I think about if things would have been different had I stayed. You are sorely missed by friend, family, and colleagues. You were always able to put a smile on anyone's face. Your personality and sense of humor has always stuck with me. I will never forget what you did for your soldiers. You were a great leader, a great medic, and a great NCO.
RIP.

SSG Walker,
Memorial Day came and went, it was the usual BBQ and so on for most people. I'm sure like many of your friends who've posted here you were on their minds as you were on my mind. Your family was on my mind as well.
There have been lots of changes since my last post. The war in Iraq wound down, but its now winding back up slowly. The same city names are popping back up, same battles. This time its mostly Iraqi vs. ISIS we are told with some American advisors. The unrest has spread to other countries in the region.
Anyway, I remember once drinking a Fat Tire draft (Keg) beer with you on a Memorial Day back in 1999 was it in a driveway sitting in lawn chairs in Colorado Springs. I always think of you and the gang when I see that beer.
I hope your wife and kids are doing okay. I've been all over the planet, working and also trying to figure things out. I haven't really kept up with anyone over the years, so I couldn't say one way or another on the people we served with at Carson.
If your family is reading this I think it needs to be said that you were the best damn soldier and NCO I served with in the Army. You always made even the worst times seem okay. That smile you had, that look, no matter how bad it got you'd crack that smile and give that look like it was going to be just fine. You don't know how many people you probably helped by just being that confidence booster. You had that rare quality that natural leaders possess where everyone in the company thought of you as their one true best friend and confident, though you spent no more time with one of us than the other, yet were there for us all when we needed you.
You always did more for us than we ever did for you and I guess that's what it is, what it was. You were selfless and you don't see that in people much.
To your family I want to say I was proud to have known you and served with you. That our military is lesser without you and our country as well. They need to know we all loved you and still do and when other people on Memorial Day are having a day off, shopping, having a BBQ, there are hundreds of us who you served with sitting in food courts holding bags of school and summer clothing, sitting on a beach while the kids play, eating bad BBQ off paper plates thinking of you as we drift off from the nonsense and remember what the day is about. We remember you, how could we not. Our wives and kids they can't understand, but we do. The people who've posted here understand.
To the Walker's,
Your father was a good man, and the best of the best of soldiers I ever served with as you can read here in these pages. Please know that we always remember him and we will never forget him and he as well as you are in our prayers and thoughts. Your dad touched a lot of peoples lives. He just had that way about him. You could tell him anything and count on him always. Always be proud of him, to you he's your father, to many of us he was our leader and our friend.

As awkward timing this entry is, finally entering as I have read most of post written since. To all the friends and soldiers to have known and served. I appreciate to see that as for me, family by law, that my brother in law was the individual and soldier his kids can read and see in these postings. Though through the toughest times I have been through with my life and times. As much is it is, I admit he is and will always be a part of me which was filled that no longer remains. Sports affiliated by and many, my enthusiasm and knowledge have diminished, though checker orange still bleeds through. Go Vols!!! One of my best friends, and by my standards, if not apart of oneself that will never be until. Was loved dearly by his in laws. To have loved and lived with my sis, to have joined and start a family with. Basically grateful for him and my sister for helping myself establish and accomplish my goals. As for me in all though his kids suffer most, for what we have encountered and in memory is all that remains. I miss, yet still painful when I think of as I go on, to only know that in life, for those gone before us is what we do memories keep us of my loss. Though not the same to turn back time and cherish times was only granted. With his tours and time away from his family, to do what he joined the army for.he loved his country and to serve I wish I could have done, for at least to do my part . The times he old me of his tours, which his last I wish I spent more time with, I wish there was more. He spoke fondly of you all soldiers, as family away from his own. He to would speak of his times in Korea, Texas, and his desert storm tours than of what was at hand, of the friendships he had. . If any reads,to know I still have a deck of playing cards wrapped in army green tape, which he held on to from all the card games as well you all played. To say to have known and loved Tim it's hard to imagine he is only a memory. To honor him and cherish I have his children to ask and only tell o the father they had to miss. Thank to you all, reading this, to know their dad, Timothy Walker for us was an impact to be missed. For my niece, Madison, if you are to read this any time soon your Uncle Daniel, is here answer questions than only stories you will hear. As for Gregory, know that your mom knows I'm a phone all away. And is and will always be my best friend to this day.... As I have been with them since birth til shortly after their Dad's death. I still miss and wish I was still with them now. My sis I know suffers most and cannot imagine her burden to carry on, for her strength and willing to fulfill her army wife's deeds. She has Gregory and Madison, parts of Tim, that still remain though living without they maintain.

I found out about your passing quite by accident & it made me sad. I am so sorry & I pray your family has found peace.
I met you & your wife in May of 1998 in Hawaii. We had dinner at Dukes on the beach. I remember how funny you were & it makes me smile thinking about that one memory of Hawaii.

SSG Walker,
I've written about 30 of these entries since 2008 and erased them, I just couldn't hit submit. You were one of the best NCO's I ever knew. I wasn't in your platoon, but same company, but still sought you out for advice and guidance. You taught me how to survive in the snow and altitude when I showed up from the FMF. You also had been in my shoes before, you taught me how to deal with from going from the Grunts to the POGs in the FSB. You saved me from going insane. If we could just go back to those times in 1998, Fat Tire beer and making fun of fat bodies. I've gained some weight over the years, that's irony isn't it?
I learned about what happened to you while I was in Africa. Krenzer told me, I didn't believe him, didn't want to, I couldn't. Then I saw later the reports, and it shook me up. You were larger than life, that smile, no matter what you always had that smile like everything was going to be just fine.
We spent a lot of time in the field and in Motor Pools together in Colorado. Me, you, Moyer, Cody Mitchell, Del Toro shooting the breeze. How could we have known back then what would be now, we couldn't have. I've tried my best to be someone you, Moyer, Mitchell and Del Toro would be proud of.I'm in Norway right now, it's peaceful here, I hope you've found peace, I'm trying. I know Dawn doesn't know me, but our boys are the same age. I remember you and I talking about our kids at times. If your family ever needs anything I hope they know they can contact me, anything, no questions asked.
I know physically you are gone, but spiritually, for some reason I sense you are still around, pretty much the reason I wrote this in first person.
You will never be gone to those of us who knew you, admired you and were inspired by you.

I struggled for a while to leave a message here. See, I met Tim when I was a brand new private at Ft. Knox. I remember those first months vividly as he had me looking for boxes of grid squares and checking the 113's for soft spots in the armor.
Walker introduced me to Pink Floyd. I was at his and Dawn's wedding. We were battle buddies who shared a bond like no other, with a very unique experience which caused us the greet each other then start laughing our butts off with a saying that nobody else knew what it meant but us!!!!!
I was reunited with him and Dawn in Hawaii, at Tripler Army Medical Center. Walker was a very good man, and good soldier. He taught me so much.
Which is why it was so hard for me to take the news of his passing. I instantly thought about Dawn, man he loved her!
I was so sad, and as every memorial day comes around, I think of him, and smile and say to him up in heaven......."You got my cards, man"??????
R.I.P SSG Tim Walker.

I'm thinking about you today SSG Walker! I had a laugh while remembering how you forgot me at the helipad after missions a few times and each time you would make it up to me with coffee, smokes, and a creative excuse. It's hard to know that I was injured only a few months before your tragedy and I'm here to talk about it but you're not. You are missed and I will never forget you!

with the death of ssg walker, the country has lost one of the greatest men i have ever known.
i served with tim in c co 64th bsb. a man that always knew what to say, what to do. i do not think he had a mean bone in his body. ssg walker and i worked on many trauma patients together, pulling victims of the war back from the grips of eternal sleep. a better man you will never know, his heart of gold will be missed deeply by his soldiers and all that have ever known him. sleep well brother, we shall all meet again when it is our time

My deepest sympathy to Tim's family. I was shocked and saddened to hear about what happened.
We were stationed in Weisbaden, Germany ca. 1990 - 1992 in the same company. I always liked him and his sense of humor.
I will never forget him and the crazy trip to Amsterdam. What I thought was the worst trip I ever took in Europe, ended up being my favorite story to tell people when I speak of Germany.
I'll always remember him fondly, as a smarty-pants and an instigator of mischief. Most of all, I will remember him as a fellow soldier.

Big Tim-
You made Korea fun. No matter how bad the work was or how many times we counted camo net sections, you made us laugh and made the work go quickly. We all missed you after you left, but I'm glad that you were able to positively affect so many other soldiers. You are deeply missed, and probably too humble to realize how many people you helped. Rest in peace.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith:
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

As my former 1ST SGT stated, when SGT Walker came to the 4th ENG Aid Station we were a messed up bunch. I was one of the worst of the bunch. SGT Walker being the great leader, soldier, and person that he was quickly turned all of that around. I really looked up to him. He was a great person and a great leader. He always looked out for his troops and he had a way of making us want to do better. He will be deeply missed and remembered forever. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends.
