War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,000 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith:
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

I just wanted Christian's family and friends to know that I am remembering you in prayer this Christmas season. I know the holidays are difficult for loved ones, especially the first ones. We were encouraged to decorate our office or cubicle at work and I made a memorial to the Nevada soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. Your Christian's sacrifice has not been forgotten by me. Thank you Christian, thank you to his family and friends. May God comfort and keep you in His care always.

December 18, 2008

I didn't know this soldier but my son is also base-stationed at Ft Wainwright but currently in Iraq. Rob says all the guys there are like family, even if they're from opposite ends of the world so I know Christian is being missed. I read a quote recently that I'd like to pass on. I don't know who wrote it but it really helps me when I get too freaked out over what 'might be' happening over there. "There may be 65 in your squadron but there are 3 million in your corner." Please count our family among the 3 million & know that our prayers are with you.

As Patriot Guard Riders from Virginia, it was our profound honor to lead the escort of Christian to his final and peaceful resting site at Ft. Stanton. It was clear to both of us that CWO Humphreys was loved in many ways, and deserves the respect and honor of a true America hero. We will pray for the family and friends of Christian; in hopes that the sad tears of today will soon be replaced by warm memories of love and friendship. We will never forget him.

Christian, god bless you soldier and thank you for your service to a grateful nation, forever we will mourn you and all of our fallen heroes both before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was killed in action in Iraq while on a routine patrol. My promise to him was that I would never forget him but also those fallen before and after him. When I made that promise to him the day we laid him to his final resting place I did not realize how often I would need to make entries on Legacy and it just breaks my heart knowing that so many other families have and will continue to feel the pain that our family has endured. To the Humphreys family please accept my heart felt condolences and my prayer that god help you cope with this tragic loss and may the memories of your HERO carry you through each day. From one Gold Star family to another we will never forget Christian!

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as EAGLES; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

The EAGLE represents STRENGTH, POWER, & PRIDE. Friends and family will surround you with STRENGTH to endure such a tragic loss, their love and support will get you through…day by day… sometimes moment by moment. Only God can give you the POWER to move on with comfort, healing and peace. But it is PRIDE in such an awesome Hero as Christian, who gave the ultimate sacrifice, that reminds us in our grief that we must always have THANKFUL HEARTS, for as it has been said “Freedom is NOT FREE”.
May Christian provide us all a constant reminder to take PRIDE in our country, to be THANKFUL for our freedom, and to constantly remember all those who serve and those who have sacrificed …. with our love and prayers. We can continue to celebrate his amazing life by keeping his memory alive with our heads held high in PRIDE and our hearts kept humble with THANKFULNESS in our hearts.
We always think it happens to someone else, this time that someone else is of one our own, a true hero in our own community. Alamogordo, let us remember this soldier, …. And his family and friends.

John15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

We love you so much and are so truly thankful for all Christian was and all he gave,

A Prayer For Our Soldiers ~~

DEAR FATHER UP IN HEAVEN
WE COME HUMBLY TO YOU TODAY,
THINKING OF OUR SOLDIERS
WHO ARE VERY FAR AWAY........

WE ASK FOR YOUR PROTECTION LORD
PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE AND WARM,
AND WHEN EVIL LURKS AROUND THEM
KEEP THEM FROM ALL HARM........

BLESS EACH FAMILY AND THEIR CHILDREN
WHO GO THROUGH DRED EACH DAY
WONDERING IF THEY WILL COME HOME
OR ARE THEY GONE TO STAY.......

GOD PLEASE PROTECT OUR SOLDIERS
WHO FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRYS NAME,
PLEASE DEAR LORD KEEP THEM SAFE
AND BRING THEM HOME AGAIN........

OUR COUNTRY STANDS FOR FREEDOM
WE FIGHT TO KEEP THE CAUSE,
WE MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER
NO MATTER WHAT THE COST......

SO DEAR FATHER UP IN HEAVEN
WONT YOU HEAR OUR PLEA,
BRING PEACE TO EVERY NATION LORD
SO OUR COUNTRY WILL BE FREE........

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

To the Family of Christian Humphreys,
Our family is saddened to learn of your loss. To see and hear of the tragedy brings tears to our eyes when we learn your family will sugger, as we have, with the loss of a loved one. My little brother, CW3 Patrick Dorff, is a fallen hero who also lost his life flying Kiowas in Mosul, Iraq on 1/25/2004. The loss has has not been easy, but we could not be prouder of his service and cherish his memory and story daily. We are sorry for your loss. Your family and friends will be in our prayers, as well as other serving our country in harms way.
Peace be with you.

My heart, my thoughts, and my prayers go out to the family, friends, and wife of Chris Humphreys.
Hes been a friend of my husbands since they met during Warrant Officer School, and I myself met him a few times.
He was a kind man, with a generous heart. And if there is one thing I can say about him, that I personally know, it was that he loved his wife so much. One night after work Chris and my husband went to Aviators Landing, and I met them to tag along. It was my first time actually meeting Chris, and he talked about his wife almost the whole time and what he was going to get her for her birthday. It was just so refreshing to see someone so in love.
You will truely be missed, Chris.
My heart goes out to you all.

Happy Anniversay my love

We are truly very saddened by your loss. Our son, Kenneth, thought very highly of Chris, and continues to cherish the moments he spent with him and all of your family. Although he and Ken were good friends, we met Chris only once, at NAS Corpus Christi. What a wonderful young man. We are proud that he was our son's buddy and shipmate. As parents, we grieve along side you, and pray that you willl all find some comfort in your fondest memories with Chris. He is America's finest; he will not be forgotten.

I am writing to offer my deepest sympathies to you and your family over the loss of your HERO Chief Warrant Officer Christian P Humphreys. I lost my son in Iraq on May 6/2007, so I can well understand your pain of losing a loved one so dear.

I pray you will be guided by a higher power to give you peace, comfort and strength in this time.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Although CW2 Humphreys had lived in Fallon for two years, any death diminishes a community, no matter who the individual is. Anyone who has or still puts on the uniform feels a sense of emptiness. As an officer in the Nevada Army National Guard, I know your "Band of Brothers" will do whatever they can to help the family during these difficult times.
The community of Fallon mourns your loss as if Christian had been a native son.
May God bless Christian's family and look over them.
