Sweet your second momma misses you. Henry an I can still hear your voice calling up to me from downstairs jokingly hey! maa can I get a beer. To this day Henry hurts so do I but not because your in a better place. Only because we miss you so bad. By the way if you are watching out , malak kinda needs you to nudge his heart, not to sure he is doing much better over you leaving us. we love you Sweet we think of you every day. Holidays will never be the same again. Im glad i gave your little brother that puppy. Now i guess we both understand why God wanted him to have it.

To the family of Christopher Sweet,I had left a post but didnt see it, Henry and I wanted to send our love and prayers , we will miss his presence at our table like so many times after work, I will miss his funny wit, and awsome country accent he was always such a pleasure to have around us. we still feel like it was yesterday that we lost him and this year we sat a place at our table for him as if. I know He is smiling at all of us here knowing he was loved very much , we will miss you Sweet! very deeply

I can't believe that a whole year has gone by already. I had relatives in the service growing up in my country and we were lucky enough to not lose anyone. I still remember the anxiety of listening to the casualty list each night on the radio.

I hope that your pain will ease with time and that the knowledge of how brave it was of Christopher to do what he did in serving in Iraq, give you comfort. No one should die so young, but he will live forever in memory in in your hearts. Everytime I think of him, I pray for strength for you to endure your loss and for the passage of time to ease your burden.

Sincerely and with utmost respect,
Maria

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.

Re: SPC Christopher Sweet

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,800 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

You should be receiving a quilt from Freedom Quilts real soon if you haven't received it already. It is our way of saying we care and we want to bring you some comfort. Shed your tears on your quilt wrap yourself and let it be arms wrapping you with love and comfort. OUr deepest sympathy for the pain you now carry with you. We thank you for being into this world a hero that stood tall and gave of himself for others. I know a mother would rather have her son in her arms safe instead of burying him and dealing with a pain like no other pain. We are here if you need us if you need to have someone reach out and pray with you for strenght my email my dear is [email protected] my website is www.freedomquilts.net the quilts are for all the parents and spouse that have lost a love one since September 11, 2001 that is when I started this project and that is why I'm still at it. With total honor and respect these quilts are made for the families that lost so much just so the rest of us could enjoy freedom.

Chris, I just wanted to say thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation. Like so many others you have volunteered to serve our country and protect the vary freedom America was built on. Please know Chris that you like so many other fallen brother and sisters in arms that you will never be forgotten and you are heroes to us all. My nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward also paid the ultimate price on 5/6/08 while on a routine patrol in Anbar Province as an MP. His unit was ambushed and came under small arms fire and he was taken from us. Not a day goes by that I do not think of him and all our brave heroes serving in our armed services. I stand tall and salute you Chris and will forever honor the memory of you along with my nephew. To the Sweet family words cannot express enough the pain both our families now must endure and my prayer is that the memory of your brave hero carry you through each day as you cope with this tragic loss. Since the loss of my nephew I have written on every single legacy page of every fallen soldier and included a photo of my nephew. I encourage you to do the same to Aaron's page. I have done this to honor my nephew but to let you know your loved one is not alone and my nephew is with him and they are now in God's gracious hands waiting for us to join them one day. From the bottom of my heart please except my sincere condolences and may the memories of your Hero carry you through each day for he will never be forgotten!

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

Dear Sweet Family,
My deepest condolences on your loss. I was in the same company (Alpha) during his time in Kansas. We were not the best of buddies but, It still is an honor to have met and shared words with him. This has definitely hit close to my heart and I hold what little time I knew him very fondly. He was a good Soldier. A hard working individual and truly an American Hero... May God hold him in his grace. HOOAHH!

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to heal you as He gives comfort to you today.

Final Roll Call

Did you hear the sad news today?
A brave American Soldier, SPC. Christopher P. Sweet has passed away.
Called by the Supreme Commander over all.
Today he has made his final roll call.

Come fellow Warriors; let us reverently bow and pray
For our valiant comrade, who has fallen this day.
We’ll drape his casket with a banner of beautiful hues,
Those glorious American colors: red, white and blue.

That star spangled banner he gallantly fought to defend,
Unyielding and undaunted, he fought to win.
He fought bravely and he passed the battle test.
Now the Supreme Commander grants him, “eternal rest”.

With dignity and honor, we’ll commit his body to the ground,
The bugler will sound “Taps” and we’ll fire the volley rounds.
The final military honors we’ll render somberly and ever so sadly;
“Old Glory” we’ll solemnly precisely fold and reverently give to his family.

Each Memorial Day we will recall Christopher P. Sweet’s name,
And attest that his supreme sacrifice was not in vain;
For this lasting legacy he gave to all generations;
“It’s honorable to respect our flag and to defend our great nation.”

So close ranks fellow warriors, for our ranks are thinning.
We must keep on fighting and keep on winning.
With pride and honor we’ll march and stand tall,
And we’ll proudly - proudly - salute “Old Glory”
‘til we too make our final roll call.

Farewell SPC. Christopher P. Sweet - Be At Ease; Rest In Peace

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Spc. Christopher P. Sweet our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Chris. And to Chris it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Iraq. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Chris, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Chris’s family and loved ones.
