George L. Symonds

SYMONDS, George L., 72, of Sebring, Fla., passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at the Lake Placid Health Care Center in Lake Placid, Fla. He was born March 14, 1934, in Springfield, Mass. He moved to Sebring in 1986 from Mount Bellview, Texas. He was an engineer for the Sprint Phone Company and worked in business systems. He was a member of the Sunridge Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force and the United States Navy Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Veronica E. "Ronnie" Symonds of Sebring; father, Frank Sargent of Naples, Fla; daughter, Carole Quitoriano of Rosemond, Calif., Cindy Podmore of Canoga, Calif. Clara Kolesar of New Brunswick, N.J., Barbara Freeman of Bradenton, Fla., Karen Coburn of Lake Placid, Gwen Granzin of New Braunfels, Texas, June Loftis of Seabrook, Texas; son, Glenn Symonds of Orion, Mich., David Symonds of Lakewood, Colo.; brother, Clifton Symonds of Naples, Fla., Ron Sargent, Ft. Myers, Fla., Bud Sargent, Naples, David Sargent, Queen Creek, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, November 5, 2006, from 1 p.m. to time of memorial service at 2 p.m. The Reverend George R. Lockhart from the Sunridge Baptist Church, Sebring, Fla., will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of George L. Symonds.
