On Tuesday, August 30, 2005, ANNE HENDERSON of Alexandria, Va. died at Fairfax Hospital after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on May 7, 1950 to parents Cyril Knowlton Nash and Kathleen May Barron Nash, Anne moved to Maryland and then to Alexandria, Virginia. She was awarded her A.A.S. in Early Childhood Education at Northern Virginia Community College and a B.A. in Early Childhood Education at Antioch University. Anne was the loving wife of David Henderson, mother of Jesse, Abby and Katie Henderson. Anne's love and devotion to her family was always her first priority even during her struggle with her illness. Anne served as the co-coordinator of the Religious Education Committee, Langley Hill Friends Meeting (Quakers). She was also very involved with animal rescue, serving as Virginia State Director, Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue, continuing to rescue Yorkies even as her illness progressed. Shortly before her death, Anne was chosen to receive their "Rescuer of the Year" award. As "Maxi", hundreds of internet friends and forums knew Anne as a kind and wonderful person. Many have e-mailed their condolences to the family and have expressed their love for Anne's kindness, insight, love and humor. She faced her illness with courage and grace. There will be a memorial service at the Langley Hill Friends Meeting House, Saturday, September 10, 2 p.m. at 6410 Georgetown Pike, McLean, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Anne's memory to the Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue, 1065 Lewis Rd., Chapmansboro, TN 37035 or through PAYPAL address [email protected]

I just read what happened to Anne Elizabeth, and I would like to send my sympathy to her family.
I too had breast cancer in 1994, and I also love and have 2 yorkies.
I just got my 3rd yorkie from a pet rescue and I know and respect anyone and everyone who works for the cause.
God Bless and your heart is in heaven.

I never knew this kind and wonder lady, but anyone with such a good heart to rescue these adorable dogs must be special. I too love Yorkies and just knowing there are people out there like Anne just makes our world a little bit better. My sincere condolences to her family and little unknown Yorkies that she might have saved.

I want to let everyone know that Anne was one of the kindest, sweetest and most loving people I have ever known. She was an angel come to life. I never got to thank Anne for all she did for my son. I want to thank her now and I know she is still with us. Her memory will live on through so many people she touched in her life, her loving family, and all of the animals she loved so much, forever.

I am so saddened to read of Anne's (Maxi's) passing.
{{HUGS}} to the Henderson family in their time of sorrow and grief. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved Anne.
Heaven rejoices as we grieve, for they indeed got a most beautiful angel when He called your Anne home.
Rest well, dear Maxi. You now know what you always needed to know and now you know who "it" was.

I knew Anne from Websleuths and another meesage board called "SYM", she was such a wonderful, caring sweet lady who spoke of her beautiful children, shared photos with us of them and her family and her precious dogs- her inner beauty shine through as much as her outer body shows us.
Although, her body gave up to cancer, her beautiful spirit will forever live on, and personally be an inspiration to me to be a better person.
Love you, Anne- I will never forget you, and will see you again someday . Love, Annie
