My thoughts and prayers are with the Peterson family. I worked with Matt to build a program years ago, and he was a wonderful person with great integrity. I was fortunate to have known him and will miss him. I am sure there is a new angel in heaven, although he was taken from us far too soon. Although it may be little comfort, know that he was well respected and cared for by those he worked with. Again, my deepest sympathy for our loss.

My sicere condolences to Matt's family. I am a cyclist that has ridden many of the country roads in the San Jose area and often think of the possibility of a similar accident. I also lost a son to a similar bicycle accident at the age of 26 so I understand your pain. Fourteen years later I still feel the pain and the loss.

I met Matt a little over a year ago, as he was recovering from a cycle injury. I called on Matt as a sale represenative to his company where he worked. He was truly one of the brightest, energetic, passionate, and nicest guy I have ever worked with. His cycling stories and professionalism will forever be remembered as I ride. I am better for having known him. My prayers are with you Matt and your family. God Bless.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Peterson family. I am so sorry for your loss.
I met Matt thru work several years ago and we quickly discovered we had similar interest in cycling. I can't begin to tell everyone how much I enjoyed hearing all his great adventures and his various training stories. When I asked for a few training tips he gave me a program to follow and all sorts of info. He said to me in that training email, "If you ever have training questions let me know. I love this stuff.” and he sure did love it. When he told me he would be out of the office on some great trip, I was always thinking I want to do that. His passion to do things was contagious and his passion will always be an inspiration for me to get out and do fun stuff.
God Bless You, Matt

Matt and I were in the same business fraternity at U of Arizona (Delta Sigma Pi), we worked together at the same hotel/restaurant in college, we suffered through summer school (accounting) together in the summer of 1998, and he even let me live in his small studio apartment with him for a few months in college. When we were living together, I will never forget playing Super Mario cart until the early hours of the morning and talking about life and our dreams and goals. Although I have not talked to Matt much since we graduated from college I will always remember him reminding me to "let the little things be the little things" and not to get too hung up on the things of life that really don't matter. I was in shock when I heard this news yesterday and still can't believe it. I really regret not staying in better touch with him. Matt, rest in peace brother.

Matt and I were great friends in high school and for the past 15 years. We had so many wonderful memories together... milepost signs... motorhome rocking... falling while dancing... He had such an amazing spirit in him and he will be deeply missed. There are hardly words to describe what a tremendous person he was. He will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his sisters and his parents back in our hometown of Willcox.

I had the honor of knowing Matt. He was smart, friendly, and generous. It's heart breaking to think about what his close friends and family must be enduring. Losing a guy with so much life ahead of him is a tragedy. Matt was the kind of guy that people could look at say "I want to be like him" because of his drive and passion in life.

My deepest sympathies to Matt's friends and family. I met Matt at the MERCO Credit Union Cycling Classic race on March 1. As CEO of MERCO Credit Union, I had the honor of presenting Matt his first-place trophy. Just before the race, he saw my Marketing Director and me carry one of the river rock trophies, and asked if he could rub the rock for good luck. It must have worked, for he won his race shortly after.
God bless, Matt.

I always admired Matt for the drive and leadership he demonstrated in every thing he did. Matt had an energy that was contagious, he was a leader that respected and treated everyone equally. I can honestly say that I've been lucky to have known an extraordinary person like Matt, he touched my life in a special way. Without knowing it, Matt taught me a life lesson... to never lose ambition for the things we are passionate about. I'm certain he has touched the lives of many as he did mine, simply by being himself. My condolences and prayers go out to to the Peterson Family. I will miss Matt dearly. You will always be in our hearts and memories Matt.
