Mary Dakai Obituary

THOMASTON, Conn. Mary (Angeleri) Dakai, 89, of Thomaston, Conn., formerly of Oakville, Conn., died peacefully July10, 2008, at Waterbury Extended Care in Watertown, Conn. She was the wife of Frank W. Dakai. Mary was born in Natick March 31, 1919, daughter of the late Sebastian and Isabella (Gryposso) Angeleri. She was raised in Natick and was a graduate of Natick High School. She lived in Ashland for 10 years prior to moving to Connecticut. Prior to her illness, Mary was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church for more than 35 years. She was an avid golfer and bowled in several different leagues in the area. She enjoyed holidays and cooking for her family. She was a past member of the Knights of Columbus Calumets and the American Legion Auxiliary. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Frank W. Dakai Jr. of Maryland; two daughters, Cheryl McDonald of Naugatuck, Conn., and Paula Houseknecht of Mississippi; her brother, Carl Angeleri of New York; and seven grandchildren, John, Christopher and Jeffrey McDonald, Brian and Benjamin Simmons and David and Diana Dakai. Her sister, Rose Verani, and two brothers, Sebastian Angeleri and Joseph Angeleri, are deceased. Funeral services for Mary will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. from Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, Conn., to St. John the Evangelist Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, North Street, Watertown, Conn. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
