Charles Hanson Obituary

Charles F. Hanson Jr. NATICK Charles F. Hanson Jr., 86, of Natick, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Mildred (Josie) Hanson, and had been a resident of Natick for the past 38 years. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hanson was employed by D.W. Dunn Co. and Casey and Hayes Movers. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local #82 and the Amvets Post # 79 in Natick. Mr. Hanson enjoyed bowling at the Fairway in Natick, and was a former member of the JJ McKay bowling league. Earlier in his life he spent many hours playing golf. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family and participating in many family functions. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Missouri from its commission at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, throughout World War II, and was on board in Toyko Bay at the signing of the armistice, ending the war. Prior to entering the service he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was the cherished uncle of Michael Maslanka of Natick, Philip Maslanka, and family, of Abington, and Isabelle Faria, and family, of Rindge N.H.; the great-uncle of Justin Maslanka, Gayle Craig, Philip W. Maslanka and Brian Maslanka; the great-great-uncle of Evan Chael Maslanka, Joshua Scott Craig and Sarah Mary Elizabeth Craig. He was the devoted brother of Mildred Maslanka, who died in 2004. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Dell Park Cemetery, Natick, on Monday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Ernest Batten will officiate There will be no funeral home calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are by the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home (www.everettfuneral.com), 4 Park St., at Natick Common.

Mr. Hanson,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

So sorry for your loss. I knew Charlie from the Amvets and concidered him a very dear friend. He was always asking me about my crafts and my family. I will miss him dearly.

so sorry I lost my friend Charlie. We were always at the doctor's office together. I would tease him about where he was going to have lunch that day. Sorry for your loss.
