Barbara J. Dervishian

UPTON Barbara J. (Frieswick) Dervishian, 52, a resident of Parker, Colo., for the last 18 years and previously of West Upton, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, in Denver, after a courageous 16-year battle with leukemia. Ms. Dervishian was previously employed as a paralegal for a law office in Denver. Barbara was born in May 1956, in Worcester, the daughter of Barbara E. (Mitchell) Scilipoti of Framingham and the late William T. Frieswick. She was a graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon, Class of 1974. Ms. Dervishian was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served three years in Europe. She was a volunteer for the Wildlife Preservation in Parker, Colo., a member of the Red Hat Society and an avid Wee Forest Folk Collector. She is survived by one son, Allan Dervishian, and one daughter, Lisa Dervishian, both of Parker, Colo.; three brothers, William Frieswick of Haverhill, Robert Frieswick of Auburn and Daniel Frieswick of Dudley; and one sister, Nancy Doane of Milford; also her stepfather, Sergio Scilipoti, of Framingham; her stepmother, Gail Frieswick, of Dennis; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service with full military honors will be held Friday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m., at the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Cedar Street (Rte. 85), Milford. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
