Josephine M. Sgalia

WRENTHAM Josephine Marie (Oddo) Sgalia, of Wrentham, where she has lived for six years, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at her son's home. She was 86. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Marian (Manze) Oddo. Formerly a 30-year resident of East Dorset, Vt., and a 20-year resident of Dover, N.J., she was a homemaker and a member of the Manchester Garden Club in Manchester, Vt., and the Contemporary Club of Dover, N.J. Wife of the late Dr. Arthur C. Sgalia Sr., she was the loving mother of Dr. Arthur C. Sgalia Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Wrentham, Paul M. Sgalia and his wife, Victoria Arthur, of Cuttingsville, Vt., and the late Joanne Labarces. Sister of Theresa Papa of Amherst, N.Y., Eleanor Oddo of Buffalo, N.Y., and the late Phyllis Oddo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Beth Obara, Carmen Labarces, Mark Sgalia, Jonathan Labarces, Daniel Arthur-Sgalia, Anna Arthur-Sgalia, Richard Sgalia and Giovanna Sgalia. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Lauren Obara. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Church, 140 South St., (Rte. 1A) Wrentham, with the Rev. Chip Hines, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Vermont. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the R. J. Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Wrentham, MA 02093.
