John Wojnowski Obituary

UXBRIDGE John E. Stitch Wojnowski, 78, of Uxbridge, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at the Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford. He was the husband of Olive E. (Glidden) Wojnowski. Mr. Wojnowski was employed by Eastern Autobody in Worcester for 30 years before his retirement in 1992. Mr. Wojnowski was born in August 1930, in Milford, the son of the late Stanley and Charlotte (Costello) Wojnowski. He attended St. Marys High School in Milford and played football for St. Marys High School. John had been a resident of Milford before moving to Uxbridge 50 years ago. Mr. Wojnowski served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. and Mrs. Wojnowski observed their 54th wedding anniversary on Feb. 13, 2008. In his retirement, John worked part time at Audette Autobody in Worcester and for his son, Michael, at Mikes Motor Service in Mendon. He was an avid Patriots fan and a member of the former Bright Oaks Club in Mendon. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen J. and his wife, Kathaleen M., Wojnowski of Uxbridge, Michael R. Wojnowski and his wife, Teena L. Chenevert, of Mendon; one daughter, Tina M. and her husband, Gary Santos, of Dexter, Maine; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by one son, Karl J. Wojnowski, one daughter, Joyce A. Wojnowski, one brother, Stanley Wojnowski and three sisters, Frances Bouchard, Bernice Bice and Helen Charzenski. Funeral services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. 'Stitch' was always ready to have fun, especially at class reunions where he was the first to arrive and the last to leave.
