Hey eric, I still miss you bud you were the greatest friend that I ever met in life. I miss those good ole days spending time at john force in yorba linda, ca. When me and my brothers came to install all the vinyl graphics on all of the race trailers, For you and john. I thank you again for all the wonderful days we spent there. I remember when we came to do an decal install for u . I brought you a big coconut donut from the the worlds famous donut shop In california. Randys donuts. You had the biggest smile on your face. And then went inside the shop and showed everyone. You will alway be remembered by me and my brother's. From DECAL APPLICATION CORP. since 1963. You are always missed and will never be forgotten. We loved you very much.

Eric Medlin *Top Fuel
Spirit of the wheel possessing no fear
Eric sat ready, waiting to hear
A wheel was ready and platform was clear
To the heart of the Spirit, Eric drew near
There were no drivers to accelerate through time
To carry the angels positioned on fine
Eric stood up and raced for the line
Speeding on forward, to enter the climb
Force of the wheel was fashioned from stock
All gears gold to transport the flock
A driver was needed to steer by the clock
Eric was able to ignite the spark
Testing the barrier to produce more speed
Aiming the arrow to draw a bead
Channeling time to keep the lead
Eric was chosen as a selective breed
Unlimited revolutions spinning the wheel
Legion of angels confirming the steel
Spirit of Eric now equipped to be real
For the Master approved, embossing the seal.

I will truly miss you, your passion, your love of life and the sport of drag racing, were quite refreshing and a great diversion from everyday life. I looked forward to seeing you and JFR on Saturday Qualifying and Sunday finals. If I had a son I would want him to be just like you. My heart and prayers go out to your Mom, Dad and family both at home and at JFR.
BTW I tried your Ice Cream Therapy. I must say a Gallon of Choclate Chip didn't ease the pain and sorrow, my friend. But for the rest of my life I will always think of you when I watch the F/C's or eat ice cream, A wise man once said that "A man is not dead until He is Forgotten" I promise, you will not be forgotten, I also promise you "will" be missed. Ford lover and racer 1963 to the present. E M will be on my mustang after paint and you'll ride along on a real fast steet machine.

To the Medlen Clan, words can never express the great sorrow of the loss of such a beautiful soul. Eric's smile always seemed to reach his sparkeling eyes. I wish I would of had the pleasure of meeting him. The racing world will never be the same. He brought a new prospective to racing. He never seemed to have a nasty word about anyone. He was one of a kind. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your son with the world, he will forever be missed.

The void left by by Eric's loss can't ever be filled, but in time you'll be able to think of Eric and it won't hurt so bad, and that's when the wonderful memories will come, putting a simle on your and making you laugh. I don't think that you ever get over the loss of a child - it's not the natural order of things. Nothing anyone can say makes it hurt less - even though we all mean well and we all want to make the hurt go away. So, just remember that you and your family are surrounded by people that love you and we are just standing here waiting to help in any way we can.

Dear Mr. Medlen:
Thank you for sharing your son with us. Thank you for showing us that a father and son can work in harmony together. That a father and son can have fun and achieve something special together. That a son can admire and respect a father, just as a father can admire and respect his son. That a hug no matter where or when is the best thing we all can do. We thank you, sir, for allowing us to see this between a father and son.
Thank you Eric. Thank you for the joy that you have given us. For your smile that seemed to never end. Showing us the love and respect that you had for your father, Mr Force, your teammates and your friends.
May we never forget and may all us wear that smile and show that same zest for life. May we all learn this from a person that we never met but felt we all knew.
Thank you Mr. Medlen, Mr. Force, the Medlen and Force families. Thank you Eric. And God, please make all members of the racing community safe as they thrill their fans.

My thoughts and prayers are with Eric, the Medlen family, and John Force racing. I never had the opportunity to meet Eric or to see him race live, but I did become a huge fan over the last year. What a great race car driver. I am sure that he would have won the championship had he had more time to race. It is so hard to lose such a great person and when I say great - he was truly great in every way. Sometimes God needs the great ones in heaven just as much as we need them here on earth. Eric will always be with us. God bless Eric, the Medlen's, and John Force.

Dear God,
I hope you are taking good care of Eric. You know his family sent him to you on March 23,2007. That was hard for them to do, but they knew that you was calling him. I sure you know that he is a kind man, willing to help anyone that is in need. A true friend, to every one that crossed his path, even though they were strangers. And man so full life and love . He will make a lot of friends living with you, in heaven as he did living here on earth. I'm sure that you know that a lot of hearts are aching and a lot of tears are being shed for Eric . questions are being asked why Eric, ? But you are the only one that knows why? God, in closing please take care of Eric. For is is greatly missed here on earth. As a NHRA Drag Racer, son, and true friend, and just only hell of a guy ! You broke the mold when you made him.
thanks God for listening
Signed, A heart broken NHRA Fan

It has been a difficult time for those of us who follow Drag Racing. Eric was such a bright light, and a great kid. To JFR and Eric's parents, we too feel your lost. Eric maybe you can explain to my mother when you meet her what Drag Racing is, and why I could not talk to her on Sunday afternoon when I would be watching Racing when she called, and would say, you're watching what?, or who is John Force. We will miss you Eric.

I've been a drag racing fan for a lot of years. I've been present at races where people died, but it doesn't help my pain of losing another friend. The drag racing community is pretty small in comparison to the other motor sports, but I can tell you we love all the guys who race. Most of us are people who have been down a drag strip and wish we could be a pro. We hurt alot when our heros die; Eric was a hero. I know this is the worst thing that could ever happen to pro drag racers like John Medlen and John Force, but I also know they love what they do. The same thing that keeps me going to every race I can go to. I'm hurting alot for Eric's loss, but I know he's like me and will be at every drag race he can...

To Eric Medlen's family and the John Force NHRA family, Eric was a life force that lit up every time he smiled. He was so full of life, and seemed to enjoy every moment, we can all take a lesson from that. We live in Yorba Linda and have enjoyed watching the Team Force race, and always loved seeing Eric with his positive attitude and kindness to those around him. We will miss his fun-loving antics during races and making everyone feel good for just being around such a positive guy. NHRA will have a huge hole in it's heart for a long, long time, if not forever. People like Eric are never replaced, and never forgotten. The Medlen Family and the Force Family will be in our prayers, but remember, Eric loved NHRA Funny Car and he would want you all to continue racing. The world was a better place because of Eric, and he will be missed. Bob & Linda Bugbee, Yorba Linda, CA

My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire Medlen Family, John Force Racing and all of the many freinds that Eric has left behind. My husband and I met Eric at the JFR shop the weekend of his first professional debut with JFR, he was super nice chatting with my husband about his car and we got lots of great pictures with him which when we took them back the following year for him to sign he remembered us. HOW COOL is that! He will be missed and remembered forever.

My husband and I want to express our thoughts and prayers to Eric's family, both real and extended, at this time. We had the pleasure of meeting him in September in Reading and found him to be a wonderful human being and great racer. He took time for autographs and pictures and always had a smile for his fans. A lot of people could learn a few life lessons on how to live life to the fullest by his example. He will be sorely missed not only by the racing community but by the human community. Rest In Peace, Eric.
