JAMES C. GREEN
AGE: 83 PLAINFIELD
James C. Green, 83, died Sun. June 7, 2009 in Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Beaufort, NC, he lived in Plainfield since 1946. He was employed with the U.S. Post Office in Plainfield for 36 years retiring in 1986. He was also employed as a bus driver for 10 years with the Piscataway School District, Commissioner with PMUA for 10 years in Plainfield and with Patullo Brothers Cleaners in Bound Brook for 19 years. Mr. Green was a former 4th Ward Councilman in Plainfield. He was a member of Stone Square Lodge #38 F. & A.M. P.H.A. in Plainfield, Golconda Temple #24 in Newark and VFW Post 7474 in Plainfield. Mr. Green was a U. S. Army veteran during World War II.
His wife Clara Green died in 2003. Surviving are four daughters, Clara Louise Greene (Ronnie), Orleita "Dimples" Taylor (Kevin), Theresa Baines (William) and Doris Barron; a son, Derek L. Greene; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters in law, Gladys Harvey, Mercedes Green-Lynley and Carlean Pope; two brothers in law, James Robinson and Alonzo Butler; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Sat., June 13, 10am in Ruth Fellowship Ministries, 733 South Second St., Plainfield. Viewing Fri. June 12 7-9pm in the church with a ritualistic service by Stone Square Lodge at 8pm. Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Arrangements by Brown's Funeral Home, Plainfield. Condolences may be expressed at brownsfuneralhome.net.
