Dorothy Jane Harrison

Dorothy Jane Harrison, 89 ESCONDIDO -- Dorothy Jane Harrison, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, Calif. Born in Chicago, Ill., she came to Southern California in 1946 and stayed till her death. She was employed by the County of San Diego for 13 years and with the Escondido Elementary School District for 19 years. She served three years in the United States Army during WWII as a Private First Class WAC Detachment in Florida and Texas. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was active in Cub Scouts, Little League and the Escon-Do-Cs Square Dance Club. Her husband, Enoch Hardy Harrison, preceded her in death, but not before they spent 47 years of life together. They met in the Tax Assessor's office where Dorothy worked, and again at the dance studio where Hardy worked. Now they dance together for eternity. Her two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Theresa Harrison of Valley Center, and Peter and Melissa Harrison of Escondido, as well as her granddaughters, Alicia and Christina, survive Dorothy. Her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Mond, and sister, Lorraine Mond also survive her. A Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Broadway /13th Ave. in Escondido. Private inurnment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery is planned. Goodbye to a wonderful mother and grandmother. She lived a long and wonderful life, and was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but will live on in our hearts for generations.
