Mary Tucker Obituary

Mary Wood Tucker, 94 ESCONDIDO -- Mary Wood Tucker passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010, in Escondido, Calif. She was born in Marcellus, New York, on March 11, 1916. Mary taught primary education in New York, and retired to Escondido where she continued to teach as a substitute teacher for the elementary school district. She also volunteered for Palomar Hospital Auxiliary as a "pink lady" for 25 years. Mary was active in her church, United Methodist Church of Escondido. She loved to cook, sew, and tend to her to rose garden. She lived her last twelve years at Silverado Senior Living where she enjoyed painting and flower arranging. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Shannon and son, Carl Tucker of Escondido; grandchildren, Wendy Anderson, Carla Bouwmeester, Alena Butler, Paul Early, and Jerry Shannon; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Duane Tucker in 1994. There will be a private memorial at her son's home on Saturday, October 30, 2010.
