Harold Turner Obituary

Harold Lee Turner CARLSBAD -- Born April 1, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri, the 14th of 15 siblings. Harold passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 surrounded by family. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He always had a smile and a positive presence to everyone he met. You just couldn't help but love being around him. He retired from his Carlsbad business, Turner Lath and Plaster, six years ago. During that six years Harold and Mignonne lived part-time in San Felipe, Mexico and part-time in Carlsbad. He loved the outdoors, driving his dune buggy, watching a sunset or just sharing a good beer with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mignonne Turner; his daughter, Susan Osburn, (Denny); sons, Robert Turner, (Stephanie), Mark Turner, (Pam) and Craig Turner; sister, Jerry Stallings; his grandchildren, Tia, Melissa, Sean, Becky, Bobby, Danny, Josh, Amanda, Meghan and Robyn; and great- grandchildren, Julia, Kai and Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents; his seven brothers; six sisters; and his son, Daniel Turner, on September 20, 2007, A private service of spreading his ashes at sea will be held on November 15, 2010. Following the service we will have an open memorial for friends and family at his daughter's home, 3456 Adams Street in Carlsbad. Please contact via e-mail ([email protected]) to confirm if you plan to attend as we need to know how many people to plan for. He kept at true good humour's mark
The social flow of pleasure's tide:
He never made a brow look dark,
Nor caused a tear, but when he died.

In the ensuing days since Harold passed, I’ve thought about all the wonderful times spent with Harold and Mignonne, camping out San Quintin, San Felipe, El Golfo, Baja, Mexico, the Anza Borrego desert, and various other places in California, I thought about all the Christmas's, friends and family members and all the times when either Mignonne or Harold would come to the rescue of one of their children, grandchildren and/or friends.
I've thought fondly about all the people whose lives they’ve both touched.
The patriarch of the Turner family has passed on. He will be remembered forever by everyone who was fortunate enough to be touched by his love and caring. Is it any wonder he died with a smile on his face? In so doing, he has healed my sorrow. I’m unable to be there for Harold’s memorial service. My heart, thoughts and prayers will be with there with Mignonne, the entire family and their many friends.
Aloha

As a Tile Contractor, I had the pleasure of working with Harold over the many years that I have been in the trades. This great man always had a great way of dealing with anything that life threw at him. I am honored to have known him. Best wishes to his family. Craig Robinson...Carlsbad
