Monroe Amber Obituary

Monroe Amber 09/15/1920 ~ 10/26/2010 MURRIETA -- Monroe "Monty" Amber was in the fur business in New York. He came to Los Angeles, California and opened up a garment business, built and operated a car wash in Hacienda Heights for many years, and bought and ran a military packaging company throughout the 70s and 80s. Monty opened up Ups and Downs Clothing Store in Old Town Temecula, and with his son-in-law, Craig, they built Wildomar Senior Independent Apartments in 1999. Monty proudly served his country in WWII in the Army. He enjoyed dancing, horseback riding, cards, traveling, and cruises to all parts of the world. He was married to Doris Amber for 68 wonderful years. Monty and Doris were one of the founding families of the Murrieta Synagogue. He was a Master Mason and instrumental in starting the Murrieta Valley Shrine Club. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and daughters, and spent a lot of time riding his horse, Sundance through the town of Temecula. Monty is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Karen and Andrea. Karen married Steve Fuller and Andrea married Craig Thralls. Grandchildren, Andrea, David, Jeff, and Tim, and their spouses, David and Wendy, Jeff and Brooke, Tim and Erica; great-grandchildren, Jase, Alex, Dillan, Blake, Rebecca, Brody, Jack, Marley, Paige and Kinsley. Monty and Doris, in their retirement years, enjoyed a second residence in Palm Desert at the Oasis Country where they made many friends. Monty served on the residence board and enjoyed playing golf. They were avid card players and met many friends through their hobby. For the past one and 1/2 years, Monty and Doris lived at Wildomar Senior Assisted Living where he died peacefully in his sleep with all family members present. Services have been held.
