Jackie Mehl Obituary

Jackie J. Mehl, 92 CARDIFF-BY-THE-SEA -- Jackie J. Mehl passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010. She was born July 19, 1918 in Clyde, Texas, daughter of Andrew Jackson Gilstrap and Jessie Allou Mayfield. Jackie graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Texas. She worked for many years as a waitress at George's Lobster Inn, where she waited on many world famous celebrities and movies stars such as Marilyn Monroe and baseball great, Joe DiMaggio and so many others. She also worked in the aerospace industry in San Diego and worked in the cafeteria at San Dieguito Union High School, where she formed lifelong friendships. She finally retired after working as a dental assistant in Oceanside. She took great pride in her home, yard, and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Mehl, who she married in 1938 in Rancho Santa Fe; and great-grandson, Cody M. Honrud. She is survived by her son, Dennis C. Mehl and wife, Clara of Sacramento, California; and daughter, Juanita Young and husband, Dan of Kenai, Alaska. She also has five grandchildren, nine great -grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Burial with graveside services, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, at El Camino Memorial Park Cemetery in Sorrento Valley with Father Desmond McMahon officiating.
