Connie Reed Obituary

Connie "Beth" Elizabeth Creed Reed, 92 11/15/1917 ~ 10/24/2010 ESCONDIDO -- Connie (Beth) Elizabeth Hurst Reed passed away peacefully at the age of 92. She was the eighth of nine children born to Albern and Connie Creed in Roxton, Texas. Connie graduated from San Diego High School in 1935. She married Philip Hurst in 1938 and became a professional seamstress while raising their two boys. In 1959, she went to work for the North San Diego Assessor's office and worked for 20 years until she retired. After 44 years of a wonderful marriage, Philip passed away in 1982, and in 1987, she married Howard Reed and lived happily for 17 years until Howard's death in 2004. Connie then moved to Bend, Oregon, to be closer to family. Connie is survived by her family, Mike and Sali Hurst of Bend; Carl Hurst of Bend; granddaughters, Keli McCammant of Seattle, Wash., Kym Anderson and Kristi Hurst of Bend; as well as eight great- grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Poston Winter of Kansas; and has several nieces and nephews. Connie was a member of the Church of Christ in Escondido, Calif., and the Church of Christ in Bend. She loved to teach adult and children's bible studies as well as correspondence bible studies. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved her children dearly. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 12, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Escondido. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com
