Julio Ramirez Sr.

Julio Ramirez, Sr. CARLSBAD -- Julio Ramirez, Sr., 91, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 in a private residence. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 27, 1919 in Carlsbad, Calif. Mr. Ramirez came from a pioneer family. He attended Pine Avenue School in Carlsbad. He was a long standing member of the San Diego Cement Masons Union and was very active in the community. He enjoyed speaking about the history of Barrio Carlsbad. He enjoyed going to many functions and was always the first one on the dance floor. He was also a volunteer at the Vista Senior Center, a member of Club Latino of Vista, the Mexican American Association of Carlsbad, and Los Amigos softball team. He was a big fan of the Lakers and enjoyed watching the Padres and the Chargers. Julio was preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Jane Ramirez. He is survived by his sister, Beatrice Aparis of San Diego, Calif; and his sons, Richard "Dickie" Ramirez, and Julio Ramirez, Jr.; his daughters, Sally Martinez, Josephine Carreon, and Eva Alvarado; step-sons, Elmer Guttierrez, and Peter Dominquez; step- daughter, Sylvia Castaneda; and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Viewing will be held between 4 and 8 p.m., with Rosary being recited at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, November 17, at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside.
