Arlene Brandeis Obituary

In Loving Memory Arlene Baylen Brandeis 06/01/1939 ~ 11/29/2009 Survived, and dearly missed by Buzz Brandeis; daughters, Gayle and Elizabeth; sons-in-law, Michael and Craig; and grandchildren, Arin, Hannah, Mollie and Asher. Arlene is remembered for her creativity and passion for art and opera. She enjoyed many years as a museum docent and acted as a supernumerary at Lyric Opera in Chicago. She was known for her independent spirit and her commitment to social change and justice. Arlene was born and raised in Chicago and lived in the Chicago area until 2002 when she moved to southern California. An avid swimmer from age 40, Arlene was drawn to the Pacific Ocean. Her ashes were scattered, as was her wish, in a private family service at the Oceanside Harbor. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

In 2008, Arlene was fundraising chair for the Democratic Club of Carlsbad-Oceanside. I and others worked closely with her putting together our annual August event. She was one of the most organized people I've ever worked with. She brought years of such experience into play and made more money for us than in any previous year. We are grateful for Arlene's hard work and dedication to the job. And very sorry that she is no longer with us.
