Marie Brown Obituary

Marie Geneva Brown, 94 VALLEY CENTER -- Marie Geneva Brown passed peacefully at sunset on Friday, November 26, 2010, in Escondido, Calif. Born in February of 1916, in Oslo, Minnesota, Marie spent most of her life in southern California. She graduated from the Knapp College of Nursing in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1938. She was a visiting home nurse until WWII when she proudly served her country in the Army Nurse Corp. Marie was stationed at Dibble Military Hospital in Menlo Park, Calif. After the war, Marie married C. Howard Brown. They lived in Downey, Calif., for 25 years where they raised their family. In 1974, Marie and Howard retired to Valley Center. Howard passed in 1988 and Marie eventually moved to Skyline Ranch Country Club. For 55 years, Marie was an avid golfer. She played regularly at Skyline until earlier this year. When she wasn't playing golf, Marie loved to play bridge and party with her many friends. She will be deeply missed. Marie is survived by her son, Jeffrey Brown of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; daughter, Karen Bushman of Placentia, Calif.; and three granddaughters, Heather, Heidi and Allison Brown. Arrangements are being handled by the Neptune Society. As per Marie's wish, no services are planned at this time. If you would like to make a donation in her honor, please send it to: The Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, Calif. 92025. 760-737-2050. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com
